What is the benefit of actually having a Vita and this? Can you "airplay" games on the TV or something, or do you need to actually take the memory card out the Vita and put it in the TV thingy?
Yeah this is basically what I was trying to ask.

To clarify, I have a 32" in the bedroom and a 26" in the spare room (with the 26" only capable of 720p), so the lack of fidelity doesnt worry me at all.

But, wrt the vita thing, as far as I can see you take your memory card out and whack it in the back, so it walks and quacks like your vita. I suppose ymmv how useful that will be.

Oh, and you can play ad hoc multiplayer, so you could play Virtua Tennis or whatever on the vita vs someone on the vita TV. I assume you will need seperate accounts and whatnot, but if it was single sign in, that would be awesome.

You can easily stream 1060p60 over a gigabit LAN
If it actually had a LAN port.

    Hahahaha

Well that's a bit shit. I'd be surprised if Sony doesn't bring it outside of Asia at some point.

Nah. They must have seen the universal praise online for this thing. I'm sure it'll appear at some point.

Presumably they'll leave it until after the PS4's released. At a guess they'd be worried of cannibalising their own sales.

They don't want to Nintendo themselves and confuse potential casual purchasers of PS4, who pick up the budget version and then find out its not a PS4 at all.

Its more likely they are giving the japanese something to do while they twiddle their thumbs, waiting for the PS4.

Indeed. The whole remote play Vita and TV thing would sell me a PS4 instantly if they could guarantee it worked.

Can you play vita games through a HDMI tv/monitor without this? If not, I would really like this addon. What is the monster fighting game in the video?

    Available in the west?

Two things the vita is missing, a MH game and PATAPON.

I was really hoping ps4 would stream vita onto tv but doesn't seem like it will happen.

PS4 to Vita works exactly the same as the Wii U to Wii U gamepad so check out some Wii U reviews. Apart from set up they've confirmed you don't need the internet to Remote Play locally and it's known to have the same chips as Wii U in PS4/Vita so we can be confident at this stage that it will work locally.

Vita only has decoding chip, PS4 only has encoding chip, so it couldn't do it on a Vita level no matter what the PS4 had, unfortunately.
