    I saw that, too. :champo2:

Can't we filter out "news" from specific journalists? EG produces barely-coherent tosh and expects us to smile!

This must be a high scorer for Matulef Bingo.

Metroidvania, Kickstarter, Personal opinion paragraph, generally poor grammar.

    HOUSE!

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

    No whopping. :p

"Backers can secure a DRM free copy of Hyper Light Drifter upon its release next summer by pledging $10..."

It's little things like this that annoy me, because providing a DRM copy for free is an interesting approach to the market, assuming that they also provide a DRM-free copy that you have to pay... for... oh. I see.

It's aggravating to assume that Matulef means something different to what he's written.

A sub-editor would pick up the missing hyphen straight away. I don't think EG has one.

Given the fun and games over the last couple of days, maybe you didn't say it!

Speaking of Matulefisms, an article I wrote the other day for someone got "whopping" inserted into it post-edit. I was amused.

I will never be able to un-imagine this now you've mentioned it.

"It's hard to think of a worse one anyway."

One of the twenty-odd defaults was "knit" and that makes it difficult to think of a worse way to advertise?! Here's one: "blow grandpa".

Maybe Jeffrey meant to write "It's hard to think."

(Seriously, am I missing something here? Without the "knit" it's just... dull advertising, right?)

Anyway, at least with the update we know that Jeffrey is fighting the good fight for us gamers and getting the world changed for the better! \o/

My impression is just that it's a really badly phrased article. I wouldn't be surprised to see it heavily edited.

Jeffrey used to be a decent journo, one of the best on Eurogamer, but his standards have seriously slipped in the past couple of months!

Nah I'm with you, I certainly don't see how it is 'insanely' sexist. Not very well thought out on behalf of Microsoft but the incredulity in that article is cringeworthy.

'Look at this! JUST LOOK AT THIS! BE OUTRAGED EVERYONE! BE OUTRRRRAGGGEEEDDDDD!'

    Pathetic

I steeled myself to read it again, and... it's technically gender-impersonal, isn't it? Frankly, it would sound more appropriate being said to me by my wife than vice versa. Aren't the people (three of them, included the article author) causing the "fuss" over this actually being sexist by assuming that the "knit" is meant to be for women?

Or is there some new disease going around that makes men unable to knit?

I was reading an article the other day where Tom Bramwell claimed that all PC gamers wanted was for PCs to move to the living room and "defeat" MS and Sony, and it made me wonder why EG doesn't actually hire someone who knows about PC games to write articles for them. The console games news is fine, and Digital Foundry does a decent job with the hardware, but it seems like no-one at EG writing about PC games has a clue what they're talking about.

And it's only just hit me... Matulef is EG's PC writer. Matulef! The reason he's copy-pasting so many Greenlight articles and Kickstarter press releases is because he's got a PC quota to fill. Jeff! He clearly doesn't know his Mount & Blade from his Mountain Dew, but he's doing EG's PC articles. The guy who thought a BIOS was the bad guy in Portal.

Still, at least he's moved from "whopping" to "staggering" (and I'm not just referring to the number of errors in each of his articles).
