    Good morning,

sorry if this is the wrong forum, please let me know where I should have posted.

However, I am looking for a game that has similar setup like KOTOR/KOTOR2/Dragon Age/Dragon Age2/Mass Effect 1/2/3

So, small group of people, roll playing and action....I have played all three above and while Skyrim and similar games are entertaining, I am looking for something with the group element...any ideas?

What sort of platform do you play on?
  • Deleted user 23 July 2013 16:11:35
Given the category, I'm guessing PC.

Jade Empire is another Bioware game, made after KOTOR2 and before ME1.

Usual Bioware premise, albeit with a kung-fu persuasion. Large group of NPC characters to tag along, romances, good/evil character alignments - all the usual Bioware stuff.

Given your original post, I guess it'd be something you'd enjoy. The PC version has some extra content that never made it to consoles too.

There needs to be a Jade Empire 2. Such a cool game with lots of awesome potential.

On topic though, how about Balder's Gate, or any of the other D&D licensed games like Neverwinter, etc. How about some of those tacky but slightly endearing European RPGs like Risen, Divinity, Two Worlds, etc? Or maybe The Witcher games? Lastly, maybe Alpha Protocol.

I wasn't a massive fan of jade empire sorry.

The Witcher 1 & 2 are excellent shouts

What about Divinity 2? If you like RPGs involved dragons that is. It is fairly traditional and feels a bit more ambitious than Bioware games but still simple to get into.

Good shout on Alpha Protocol if want something a bit different. Is pretty unique game but is a very good RPG on PC. On the consoles it was plagued by technical faults that's why it reviewed a bit poorly.

Neither work exclusively in groups but alot of NPC interactions and the odd person helping you

Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

Deus Ex Human Revolution is sort of almost in the same ball park as those. At the very least it's a great game worth playing, but it certainly has shooting and RPG stuff in it. Single bloke, but still good.

Also, bit of a long shot, but if you play Star Trek Online and pretend it's a single player game, it's sort of like those. Commanding your own little unit, arming them, choosing their skills and going into battle. I know it's an MMORPG, but you can just be anti-social ;) Don't have to pay for anything either, all that is inessential.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

Now, choices choices, what to try first. Thank you all and indeed, I am a PC gamer....Baldurs Gate / NWN were great!

    Cheers guys!

    depends on what you fancy

divinity is more in the mould of dragon age as a trad wrpg (make sure you get the dragon kight saga with additional content version), alpha protocol is a modern day espionage rpg with a lot of branching choices, upgrades etc & jade empire is the bioware game but is hazier in my memory as i played it on the original xbox...

Lots of good suggestions in here - Divinity 2: DKS is especially good (although no 'party' to speak of). Alpha Protocol is a personal favourite of mine but it's a 'love it or loathe it' type (fantastic dialogue system though but again, no 'party').

Maybe Binary Domain? It has the squad and some RPG customisation choices, but is a bit more shooty than Mass Effect.

Half of these suggestions are absolutely nothing like what the OP is after...

Unfortunately outside of Bioware and Obsidian there are very few party-based RPGs these days. The other good ones are very old, like Arcanum and the early Fallout games, or very old-styled like the Spiderweb games (Avadon and Avernum).

Others are just average, like Drankensang, or have a pathetic 2-man party as well as being massively average, like Dungeon Siege 3.

    So, in summary: Anachronox!
