Dead Rising 3 is sounding like it could be alright now, I was a little worried after the E3 gameplay footage.
The phone stuff sounds interesting too, No More Heroes did something similar quite well.

Day one. Also, I do like the use of Kinect in this instance, if I make a loud noise at an ill-advised moment the zombies will hear it and swarm in my direction, should certainly add a little more immersion (would be useful for causing a distraction and then flanking around them too). If a few more developers can come up with interesting ways to utilise the Kinect then I may actually welcome it being bundled (which is the only way to ensure developers utilise it in any meaningful way after all). An earlier post suggesting arm movements to direct squad members in military games, which again would add something positive to the game, and teach me military hand gestures in the process :)
Anyway, back on topic. I also prefer the more realistic art style and the lessening of the over-the-top humour somewhat (although the video would suggest it's not being lost completely),

The Kinect and Smartglass stuff in this I think is shit, it just doesn't appeal at all. Smartglass in general is a waste of time, imo - it will always be easier to interact directly within the game.

Yeah. It's gimmicky fluff mostly. I like the sound thing though. Creeping up on a horde of clueless undead ready to decimate them with my RC frizbee chainsaw when 'oh no!' mum rings.

Nick finds a fancy government phone on the body of a dead agent. At this point, the player can link his or her actual phone to the game, meaning that when Nick gets a call, your phone will ring and you can actually listen to the incoming message
    Oh I like that!

Pointless is pointless. Why would I want to stop playing to pick up my phone to listen to a message that I could just as easily hear from the tv speakers. Unless it bags you some sort of super secret bonuses in which case I'm all over it.
Don't be so joyless rob. Games were built on dumb shit that nobody should care about.
Immersion, 4th wall breaking. Like the moment you realise you have to look on the CD case for the codec frequency in MGS 1. Those moments where games get into your world, when done well, are fantastic.

It sounds like something that'd be novel to do once, then just a pain in the arse after that. I wouldn't have liked the MGS example either if every codec frequency in the game had been hidden somewhere in the manual.

I'd like to see portions from the game that are challenging, tbh. Running around blowing up stuff that is no threat will get boring fast methinks.

Made my day one list on the first footage reveal. Yeah there was some concerns but they have been quelled as more info has been released.

Now you can have combo vehicles in the game

Plus that trailer was brilliant. Post watershed Tv trailer during a champions league match would be great time for that:)

This is the only next gen title that has actually stood out for me so far. I don't think it will convince me to be an early adopter but it does look pretty cool.

Just watched the IGN demo. Tearing and poor frame-rate. Looks fun though.

Tearing killed the first game for a lot of people on the 360, it would be a sin if they repeated that.

Yeah I really liked that video. Shows a lot of carnage and the comedy side of the series.

Currently have this and Ryse on pre order.

I'm not impressed by this game at all. It doesn't look that much different from the previous instalments other than improved visually, which I'd expect anyway. After playing the three previous games and countless other zombie games this is not a genre I'm in any hurry to revisit. I suspect it'll end up being a disappointment myself, particularly if you've played all the other games. Doesn't look different enough for my tastes; it's just more of the same with more zombies and prettier visuals.

PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, PC (Intel Core i7-4770K, 16 GB, 4 GB EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 SC, Windows 8.1 Pro), iPad 4, iPad mini with Retina Display.

And no timed missions ;) Which will be a big plus for many.

Negative for me, but I'll live.

They need to get the framerate / tearing sorted. Not much time left to do it in though.

I like the big open sandbox and the thousands of zombies.
I don't like all the stupid (creating weapons, costumes, etc).

There is still the timed mission gameplay. Can switch between that and no time limit whenever you want, both modes are meant to be unlocked from the start

I'm playing through DR2 now and the timed missions haven't gotten in the way... yet. I suspect they will the further I go, which I will definitely hate.

Also, saving people has proven to be quite the bitch.

The creating weapons is great and it ranges from the stupid (rip saw sledgehammer) to the realistic (Pistol + light) anyway, nothing wrong with options :)

If it ends up being as cool as it looks now and they improve some of the technical aspects it'll be a definite day one purchase for me.

That gameplay video has really got my hype levels up! Why must it be a Xbox One exclusive?!

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.
