    @Progguitarist Only those that require Kinect which will probably be about 5% of the X1's library .

    It doesn't. Both are ridiculous.

    You're not a KGB spy, no-one cares what you're doing enough to spy on you.
    They don't know that. They spy on you, then decide if you're a spy.

    @Fake_Blood Just a guess. Can see a lot more controller based games with Kinect extras rather than forced Kinect features.

    Hell MS didn't even show KS:R during the E3 show despite the series having sold around 8M.

    Also, why would they be fighting tooth and nail to retain access to data they don't need and don't want on people they're not interested in?

    Bottom line: they want a file on everyone.

    When we start to hear of dodgy convictions based on evidence gleaned from Kinect then there will be a comparison.

    Till then, continue carrying around your mobile locator device while fretting about Kinect.

    It's somewhat akin to a raging alcoholic shouting to everyone about the dangers of DMT.

    @DodgyPast while that is a lot of money, in the government pot of cash it's not an outrageous amount. There are many other areas of defence with similar or larger sums.

    additionally the amount of effort expended is as likely to be on counter-business espionage in the chinese / russian realm as it is counter-terrorism and the average pleb really should have nothing to worry about unless you have very fringe views which you make public,

    @Khanivor

    The alcoholic would still be right about the dangers of dmt though.

    True. The handful of people a year who may suffer some ill effects from taking DMT will balance out the tens of thousands of people a year who die from alcohol abuse.

    So, while it may be worth drawing attention to the dangers of one thing perhaps it might be more prudent to focus on the thing which is many factors more dangerous.

    Sure. I'm all in favour people moaning about their phones more.
