Napping suddenly makes sense once you have kids, I'll be damned if I ever get the chance though. Other than that, it's a bit Ross & Joey.

I used to be totally against naps, but once I went back to college and was working nights they became amazing.

I don't have the self-discipline for naps. They always end up being 4-8 hours long.

Back when I was working + studying full-time though naps were salutary. Despite invariably feeling like shit upon waking up.

Ever had one of those naps whereby you wake up and it's pitch black and it's all quite? Yep, I've had a few of those.

Naps are meant to be great for you but they always make me feel like death when I get up.

I used to love my powernaps right after coming home from work. 30-40 minutes and I was refreshed. Can no longer have them because my neighbours from hell spawned the human equivalent of a jackhammer....noisy little fucker.

I remember reading its used to be the natural way of things way back in medieval times, called a first sleep around 3PM and a normal sleep at night. But modern society dictates otherwise now.

    /Stupid modern society

Oh I love those... Rare now that I have two kids but those are the best naps.

Today was amazing. Straight from my nap to the beach for some soft serve ice cream. Now I've got some honey chicken roasting away in the oven. Will try and get an early night with some reading.

    Best life ever!

When I get home from work I'll often take 40 winks. I like to to drift off listening to the radio, but never go completely under.

If I'm visiting my mum or the in laws, a snooze is a survival tactic.

Yeah I heard that. After midnight a couple would spend quality time in bed together.

Not that far back, even. Victorian society had a vague rule that you'd go to bed in the evening, then get up early morning (around 2am), do light work for a couple of hours, then go back to bed. Wasn't until the Industrial Revolution introduced the concept of shift work, along with artificial lighting, that everyone started having just one main sleep.

Then there's the despicable daylight savings malarkey. Napping is the ultimate "stick it to the man" protest.

I woke up at 6am yesterday (Sunday) and went about my day, stopping at lunch time for a 40 minute power nap... It was fucking awesome. Nap = Power.

A Spanish friend of mine's dad always said that the siesta is the secret weapon of the Spanish, which gives them power beyond reckoning. Exaggeration? Yes. Wrong? No.
