I don't mind him but the whole X1 announcement was poorly done.

He's been quoted as saying he'll have words with friends before deciding.

Zynga are fucked, this would be a bad move.

However after the PR disaster with the X1, I dont think this choice will be entirely his alone..

From what I can gather, it's not actually his fault. This whole DRM/online crap came from above him.

Going from a company that backtracked on a major mistake, to one that largely is a major mistake. Ouch.

Why wouldn't they bin him after the PR disaster of the launch, regardless of the technical issues, the way it was all handled was shambling.

Don't feel too bad for him, he'll be going home to this :

Not a bad career move for him, even if Zynga are in the shit. It'll be a win-win - if they still collapse it's experience and he'll be the CEO that guided them best he could to the end. If they pull through he'll be the CEO that turned it all around.

See also: Jason Rubin and THQ (although he was "only" president).

They will have to make sure they cut the marionette strings off him before he goes.

People are quick to bash him but....

"since Mattrick began overseeing the Xbox division, the Xbox 360 installed base grew from 10 million to nearly 80 million worldwide while Xbox Live membership increased from 6 million to nearly 50 million."

That had absolutely nothing to do with games and everything to do with Don.

Good numbers but people aren't bashing him over sales numbers. The Xbox took a direction that catered to motion controls, diluting IP, coasting, offering little Xbox Live value over a whole generation, wasting god knows how much on pointless exclusive DLC, media apps behind a paywall, PR blunders that are basically an up yours to consumers.

Only way was up for Xbox but can't deny solid success and longevity.

I have played some good games and had fun on Xbox 360 so not all bad but always felt Microsoft could do better.

Actually think this is harsh. The rules that were going to be put in place were bad. Simple as. There is no way he or anyone else could sugar coat it. If this is what the top guys at MS thought was good, they should be falling on the sword, not him.
