Well we might as well start an official thread for the Xbone game. Unusually for a Forza game we haven't a year to wait between reveal and release, the game will be with us in a few months time.

So what do you think it will be like? Are you excited?

More importantly what major features do you think Turn 10 should include this time around.

And without further ado - some screenshots - most likely from photomode.

I've not seen it referred to as XBone before. Most places seem to be calling it the XOne (pronounced X1 or zone I wonder?)

    Freudian slip by Maturin?

Just looks like an ever so shiny car on an empty race track, all that has really changed in this style of game since GT on the PS1 is the resolution.

I can't agree with that. The physics in these type of games have come on a long way since GT1.

I think the most interesting element of the trailer is the setting - which seems much more like Project Gotham Racing than Forza. I wonder if there are going to be more of this PGR style city circuits in the game.

That's just another kind of resolution, though. The resolution of the graphics, physics and feedback have all improved but it's still the same thing.

I really enjoyed Forza 3 and spent many brilliant Tuesday nights with the EGSMS gang but the thrill had gone from Forza 4 and I can't get excited about the same thing again polished even shinier.

I want to... (wait for it)... do more, not see more. Which probably means Forza is no longer the franchise for me unless it can break out of the circuit.

But it's Forza MOTORSPORT. That's the crux of it. It is by its very nature circuit based.

But motorsport is something they haven't actually explored to its fullest. Think of all the motorsports they've haven't really covered. There's no proper BTCC, DTM, V8, NASCAR etc. in the game.

There's definite scope for a much more interesting and broader game within the confines of the motorsport heritage. It can leave all the dicking around in traffic to spin-off games.

Fair enough. I think I've got to that point with shooters.

What would be nice would be a proper progressive career mode that puts you in the role of a proper club racing driver, and which doesn't feel like you are just selecting single races one after the other from a menu. Something more akin to what Codies have touched on in the past. Actual categorised championships, with points systems and ongoing rivalries.

About 15 years later, and the 'career' modes in these games still haven't really changed since GT1 on the PS1.

True. I think the career in Shift 2 was much better than GT5 and FM4 but still mainly involved picking races from a menu.

That being said I'd still like Forza to retain the massive event grid as a side project from the career. I'm finally working through the one on FM4 and it features loads of interesting car/track combinations that aren't in the main career.

Which I suppose again shows the career was poor.

I tell you what I don't want in Forza 5, is that sodding Sedona Park Raceway bollocks.

Xbone... Brilliant. Might stick with that one. Kudos. (Is it wrong to reference PGR in a forza thread?)

Some new circuitsis key, I bought 2 and 3, and got a bit fed up of many of the same circuits and cars.

When the new categories are made for the forum, can we please have Xbone as the title.

I think that's the main weakness in the franchise so far - the lack of circuits. I'm happy to see weather and realtime time of day changes if 1080p60 can be realised, but it's more tracks that I want the most.

You only have to look at Shift 2 for a list of tracks that could and should be in Forza - Brno, Spa, Donington, Brands Hatch, Monza, Zandvoort etc. The Legends DLC even added historic versions of Hockenheim (1982), Monza (1958), Rouen-Les-Essarts (1966/52), Silverstone (1975) and Dijon-Prenois (1972). The follow up game Project Cars is adding even more historic tracks - the current build has the amazing old full Spa circuit in there.

It's these experiences Forza needs to tap. And to perhaps bring along some historic cars to go along with such courses. And I wouldn't say no to some open wheel vehicles.

Project Cars really sounds interesting, especially as it will scale with PC's.

Was just going to post that all I really want are a good number of new tracks, but I see I'm not alone :)

    Give me Bathurst at least!

I hate Sedona. Especially that fast corner that has quicksand just the other side of the rumble strip.

    Suzuka
    Hong Kong
    Macau
    Le Mans
Plus it's not hard to create some pretend circuits to bulk up the numbers.

Suzuka and Le Mans are already in FM4. So I expect they'll be in FM4 too.

I assume the Prague circuit in the FM5 trailer is this generation's Bernese Alps.

I just wish they'd focus on more unique circuits rather than multiple variatons. I know it saves on memory, but I'd much rather have 20 unique circuits than 10 unique ones each with 3 variations (making 30 overall)

FM4 had Suzuka's full circuit. So why exactly did we need both the East and West circuits. They were the SAME corners! Save some space and cut that shit to make room for a couple more licensed or original tracks.

I remember reading somewhere that Spa hasn't featured in the series far because they couldn't rinse multiple circuit variations out of it. Spa!
