    FIFA 14 announced today apparently.

Should be interesting to see what they say and if they mention the PS4 etc.

    Another year another FIFA!

Wonder if they'll introduce a brand new feature called single player? Probably not :)

As with every Fifa there's a whole host of improvements they could do with implementing but they'll create some new thing that is good but doesn't solve the old problems.

You are a factory of sadness.

FIFA world cup i think. That was a shocker. Started getting good from 07-08 onwards though when they brought in the new engine.

To be fair online seems pretty bullet proof these days and if you change your online matchmaking settings it tends to keep you out the way of quitting wankers.

That be said i hate playing it in the school holidays.. not to mention the little bastards tend to beat me and proceed to gloat about it afterwards! :/

Indeed! Fifa 09 was the last decent Fifa in terms of online. Fifa 10 and its bullshit stat levelling was where the franchise ended for me.

"FIFA 14 will play the way great matches are contested with build up through midfield, tension throughout the match as chances are created, and incredible finishing," said David Rutter, executive producer for FIFA 14. "Opportunities in FIFA 14 will be rewarding and great goals will look stunning."
That is pretty lame PR. Mind you, FIFA games fly off the shelves no matter what, so David Rutter sits in a comfortable position anyway.

I hope there's a really cumbersome menu interface that is slow, unresponsive and prone to locking the hardware.

@senso-ji I always end up buying them too, I tell myself I'm not going to and then I play the demo and still say that I'm not going to but I always crack. The thing is, it's without doubt the game I play most every year so it never feels like a bad investment.

Some german guy called me an english pig the other day because I beat them. He the proceded to tell me his monthly earinings in his pretend euro currency. That isnt all. He then said the germans piss on england from a great height. He ended his message with: your shit at fifa, which is always my fave comment after I have just beat someone

I sure hope the PS4/Nextbox versions are barely-functional ports of FIFA 13, upscaled and smeared in vaseline. It'd be a shame to break with tradition.

Glad they're sorting out the marking, thus hopefully solving those 9 out of 10 times the AI defence clears the ball it falls to one of their attackers.

Also, as someone who plays offline it's nice to hear they're improving career mode. The current interface is dreadful and in dire need of an overhaul. I mentioned this in the comments but the screenshot would suggest you can now scout actual players within the game rather than just fictitious youth players which is a welcome addition.

Aye, that is pretty frustrating. What I'd also like is more dynamism in the offline AI style. There's a few clubs that do something different and the European games are good but most clubs tend to just park the bus and ping it to the strikers.

    I'm still playing a FIFA 12 career.

The only thing that bugs me a lot is the defending is a bit gash - the way you can hold X and have your player chase the other guy all over the place is like something out of Benny Hill.

The tactical defending in FIFA 13 was better, I think, but I find attacking much more rewarding in FIFA 12 - at least in '12 I can get a shot on goal instead of the block party you get in '13.

The fact they haven't made a big song and dance and dropped made-up words makes me think this is a rolling update for current gen consoles with most of the team moved onto next gen efforts.

At least they're doing work on the shooting, I'm bored of scoring the same goals over and over.

I quite like the sound of being able to protect the ball whenever you like or using the L2 to shield against defenders / chasing back wingers etc 'on-demand' so to speak. Could add a nice new dynamic to the play.

That and the shooting variation which will help greatly!

Yeah, the shooting is the worst part of FIFA games in my opinion.
