Hey everyone, I have just got my hands on a huge mint condition retro game collection and am I little confused as to how I should proceed with selling it. The collection is owned by my uncle who is in his 50's and is no sort of collector but has just a strange habit of buying 3 of the same console whenever it comes out and keeping 2 unopened!! Don't ask why, I have no idea either!! I've told him this stuff could potential be worth a lot of money so I've agreed to sell it on his behalf and just don't want to be ripped off by someone. Can you believe he was gonna chuck it all in a skip!!!!!!

Just as an example of the gear I'm talking about -

Unboxed brand new when I say brand new I mean absolutely immaculate condition never opened or even unwrapped from original packaging dreamcasts, sega saturns, n64's, megadrive ( with 32x) and even an Atari jaguar all with many games alongside, every single title all in amazing condition too. Some even sealed.

One of the dreamcasts I've chucked on ebay just as a tester and have been inundated with requests to 'buy it now' - obviously I'm not gonna do that and just let the bid run. Some one has just offered me 300$ for it from Australia. Search for rare unused dreamcast on ebay if you are interested in seeing it.

Anyone know any collectors or know more about this than I? Thanks in
    advance.

Gonna edit and post all the stuff up here

    pictures

these have sealed sega stickers - never used im guessing? - not sure of the relevance of this as they look easily tampered

www.sealedgameheaven.com is a good site to help find out what something's worth

There are some hardcore and I mean Hardcore collectors on there who won't bat an eyelid to spending 2-3 grand on a single factory sealed game

If you went on there forum and told the same story you just have here they will swarm around you like the proverbial flys on shit

Dreamcast stuff in particular is pretty popular, but Nintendo is the holy grail especially when it's factory sealed with the red strip. That's the key here, if your stuff is genuinely factory sealed and never been opened you get a shed load more for it, if its been opened but never used the price still takes a nosedive although there are collectors who will still buy in this condition

Good luck. Sounds like a great find, I would consider keeping hold of some of the rarest stuff as it will only go up in value, and make sure you get the value right if you do sell, people will try it on hoping you don't realise what you have. People might say 'Oh a Sega Saturn? Sealed? Bit crap wasn't it? How about 30?' So do your research and have fun

No one who knows what they're talking about would sniff at a factory sealed Saturn, certain games change hands for hundreds that aren't sealed, so you could well have a goldmine.

If he's got any Neo Geo stuff, you're going to be rich.

@Dirtbox Re read my post mate

That's my point! A sealed Saturn is pretty rare (have 2 myself),
What I'm saying is somebody may try and hope you don't realise what a rare thing you have and make a shit offer. Some people would say "Oh 30 for this box that's been in my loft for 10 years? Thank you lovely person for taking it off my hands"

Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback - I will try that forum, it's like you said though I'm very wary of the 'flies around shit' people taking advantage of my lack of knowledge.

What a find though right, my eyes literally popped out of my head when I saw all this stuff and the condition its in. Unbelieveable!!!

Oh also, these consoles were never sealed (no shrink wrap) when I say sealed I mean never unboxed but no seals were ever in place.

Unfortunately the N64 seals have been broken to check contents but has not been unboxed which is a shame. I'm sure it's worth something to someone - anything i make for him is a bonus as he's totally broke.

I wouldn't try and sell them as sealed, perhaps BNIB (Brand New In Box).

Good luck, you'll make him a tidy sum.

Yeah, like N64 for example, it's a shame the seals have been broken but you can still get a good price, just do a bit of research and you will be fine

Yeah, damned shame about the N64, oh well. this is the tip of the iceberg though, i'm hoping for sealed Snes' that would be amazing. He is currently searching his loft for all this stuff.

Peacock - you say you have sealed Saturns - are you sure they had seals, the ones I have have no evidence of ever having a seal. these machines are still in the box they were delivered in by the courier all those years ago and there are no seals.

@mumtoucher regarding the sealed Saturns let me elaborate as I wasn't very clear. They are not sealed in the sense where they have like a tear strip or a security sticker, but they are both clearly un-opened boxes and in absolute pristine condition from the factory. You can tell when a box has been opened because when you pull the tabs out the cardboard creases, in the 2 I have you can clearly see no crease marks, so although not 'sealed' they have never been opened so they are the best example you can find. You may find shrink wrapped ones but its more likely the shop that sold it may have shrink wrapped it

Oh and if you find a sealed SNES well.... Congratulations in advance :)

Photos!! I'm genuinely excited for you. Boxed Game & Watches are also worth a bit, 300+ dependent on age.

    @mumtoucher

I'm assuming UK, but what region is your hoard? (UK/US/etc)

Post the list here when you have sorted through it all, and remember to let us know when you put it up for sale.

P.S. Don't overlook the small things like official cables, PSUs, manuals, and promotional flyers etc, they're worth money too.
