I do like how the Mail and all wail on about the PC brigade being 'easily offended', when they're the hysterical wrecks shrieking every time a non-white person does anything that 'threatens' the poor whites.

Ah! So that's why London has felt more accommodating lately.

This is my favourite, when the BBC used the term 'BCE' instead of 'BC' in a programme, this was described as a 'Marxist plot to destroy civilisation from within' and 'designed to write Christianity out of our culture.'

    http://tabloid-watch.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/bc-and-ad-not-jettisoned-by-bbc.html

The DM then accidentally used the same term in an unrelated news article that they had copied and pasted from a press release about a week later.

It says a drop of people defining themselves as White British, I currently live in England, but on any forms i always define myself as White welsh. Could that account for anything or are the scottish, irish and welsh entries just tallied up under british anyway?

    London, duh.

More specifically, Brixton. I love Brixton, but hate London.

Nah, just sick of it. Feels like London is a collective delusion tbh.

They've not left, they've just spent too long in the tanning salon.

Let's guess based on what seems plausible.

If you think about the likely white population in London, you expect most fall into two groups:

Working class, manual labour/public sector type jobs - Hit by cuts, probably moved elsewhere to find work.

Office / Management / White collar type jobs - Likely to be looking to move to quieter commuting areas

I live close enough to London but have always been a burb and always will be. My older brother lived on various parts of London and I always liked going up there and hanging around. I suppose I like London in the same way I love my nieces and nephews. Love them to bits because I don't have to put up with them full time. I work in S.E. London in a very 'diverse' area that is also a bit of a shit hole. Lots of low paid workers and cash in hand workers so lots of low cost housing and commerce. This then attracts more low paid workers and you end up with a 'cheap zone' full of pound shops, hair salons and nail bars.

Radio 4 programme ( i'm old, i like it) suggests reason for leaving london nothing more exciting than Ford closing up and leaving workers with juicy pensions and council houses that they paid 30% for 15 years ago.

So they cashed in, sold up and fucked off somewhere nicer. And why not?

    To summarise my previous post:

" I say I say I say, why did Whitey leave London?

    Because he could. "

London is a lot like a vagina. It's a lot of fun to go down there, and it can look amazing sometimes, though it can cost you a fortune. But you don't want to live there, and it smells in hot weather.

There is nowhere in the UK I'd live over London. Nowhere comes close to its diversity and variety. Which is the spice of life. Does suck that it is expensive though.

The diversity/variety is good - but (IME) people clump together with their ethic groups, don't intermingle and London ends up feeling like the Citadel in Mass Effect.

Lets face it, all creeds are racist. Multiculturalism is another 'ism' born to fail.

@FWB London has brilliant mixing of different groups. As does Manchester and Birmingham. Of course there can be a lot of improvement, but many people who say multiculturalism has failed generally just mean "The Muslims and black folk haven't turned white yet."

Pretty much. Am a Brit of German and Polish parents. My closest mates are of Russian and Indian descent. The current GF is of Sierra Leone/Lebanese descent. And that's just my closest network.

People seem to forget that this mixing is not something that has been going on for a long time. Of course groups will move to their own when they first arrive. It is what they know and provides a support network. These things don't happen overnight. But to claim it is "failing" (as if it is some social experiment, which it most certainly is not; it is occurring quite "naturally" IMHO) suggests that one is living in a small part of society.
