That was my recollection too. Fine line between the arrogance/confidence athletes need and being an egotist.

Or maybe he was just pissed off at losing and said something he regretted in the heat of the moment. It wasn't like he drowned kittens.

i think it was certainly a sign that this 'calm, gentle' character as associates described him had a darker side.

HE HAS A DISABILITY, WHICH IN HIS SPECIFIC CASE ENTAILS BEING DEVOID OF EITHER LEG. IN COMMON PARLANCE, NOT HAVING A LEG TO STAND ON IS TAKEN AS MEANING THAT THE INDIVIDUAL IN QUESTION DOES NOT HAVE A VIABLE DEFENCE. CAN I THEREFORE BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION THE LINGUISTIC HUMOUR THIS COMBINATION OF FACTS MAKES POSSIBLE? VIS--VIS HIS CURRENT PREDICAMENT, THE STATEMENT "HE HASN'T GOT A LEG TO STAND ON" HAS TWO MEANINGS, WHICH IS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF A HUMOROUS STATEMENT. YOU MAY NOW LAUGH.

    Tiger, lance, piss whatever...no legs

Are there no heros that don't turn out to be cunt-nozzles?

Is beckham really the only one that's a genuine good guy hero sports star?

Hope nothing bad comes out about Beckham ever, I think he's great.

Yeah, he's amazing and nothing ever comes out that's bad about him.

It is pretty weird that our generation is going to have a digital imprint after we die. I mean, if I died today, no-one knows my password to Facebook, my profile would just stay there.

Would be weird going through Facebook when I'm older (assuming it sticks around, which it may well do) and pruning my friends list of people that died.

Perhaps we'd be better off picking our heroes out of a pool of people who do amazing things to help their fellow human beings/humanity as a whole instead of people who are just good at sport/acting/singing/dancing/making money/being on telly?

I mean, they'd still let you down - people are people and it's hard not to be a twat even without being an object of adulation, but at least you could say in the aftermath, 'It's a shame how it turned out they were quite cunty, but they did discover the cure for cancer'.

I don't know much about the guy but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he didn't do it on purpose.
