    @nickthegun As a rule of thumb? Meh, maybe.

    It's not a 1/10 ratio though. If like you say you have a 60 Megabit connection, your download should be around the 7.5 mark, not 6.0.

    Not worth poking fun at the guy, I would say the majority of broadband users in this country don't know the difference between Megabits and Megabytes and it doesn't help when they are told that 60 Megabits down is 6.0 MB down. It's just not, simple. I'm on the same speed and I very rarely see 6MB down when my connection is steady.

    With overheads, contention and whatnot, its generally around that figure, guy.

    Its equally, if not more unhelpful doing exact maths and saying 'this is what you should be getting' when the only time you will get that is at 3am when the planets align and the broadband gods are favouring your router.
