My city has the Recycling Centre/Ground pollution bug :(

Don't know if I'll try and carry on, or if levelling the place will solve it.

Its looks almost certain that its finished off my city. :(

Recycling centre fills up with recyclables and never empties, meaning that city becomes flooded with garage and ground pollution reaches unrecoverble levels.

Adding/removing/re-adding the recycling centre doesn't fix it, although some have said it does they probably had a different problem, as the majority of people report it doesn't work for them. :(

    Ah right.

The more and more I play this game, the more I find it staggering that they haven't given us more tools to control the traffic. They've made this immense engine where individual sims are accounted for etc, yet we have less traffic tools than we had in SC4.

One way streets for example, which we had in SC4, would be a godsend in the new one. Also roundabouts (which you could get via a mod) would be useful in the new one. Some No left/right/U turn signs would be handy too. It just seems ridiculous that in SC4 you could have a city with a population of 1m and you could handle the traffic, but in the new one you hit 30k and it's chaos, and you have no tools whatsoever to control it.

They've kept banging on about curved roads, and while they are nice, I'd give them up for the things above every day of the week.

Also, I've found that if you are in a plot where the motorway comes through your city rather than having a dedicated slip road/off ramp you are at a distinct disadvantage aswell.

MAte the game is fundamentally... wrong. Not even broken, just wrong. They didn't listen to their fanbase and made a game for the casual user that might play a city for a couple of hours, maybe 4 at most then move on to next. They gave the illusion of deeper gameplay for more hardcore gamers and thought that was enough. I don't think they ever thought people would pick it apart as much has this. I don't this game will ever be "fixed" to something we will find accceptable. It would require too much money, all they'll do is patch it up keep it working for the 20% of buyers that will keep playing it over the coming months and sell DLC to them.

This seems to be the exact same issue I've been suffering from for some time on Isles 2 :(

There's a chance that the modding community will fix it though - after all, they worked wonders with SC4. Having said that, the current need for servers will limit what the modders can do.

I've not played this for a bit - been playing my free copy of Most Wanted - but I gather it hasn't been magically fixed yet?

Have they at least patched out TeamHam's invasion fleet of buses?

Mon_The_Biff on Origin, you might already have me.

Why are Origin updates always 42 meg? Do they just re-download the entire program?

Lol. Oddly enough, all these problems the game has, it's almost part of the charm for me. It's like some sort of bizarre experiment.

Hmmm, an Origin survey. "How likely is it that you would recommend Origin to a friend?"

Do not ask questions to which you do not wish to know the answer.

    Ditto.

More importantly, I'm sorry Razz but when I fired up Most Wanted it insisted that I destroy you.

    /isn't sorry.

I should probably switch to the Most Wanted thread, if there is such a thing.

Tbh, with how they've designed the agents, I don't know how they can ever fix traffic. The agents need to be re-wired and I don't see that happening. They'll get it to be "as good as possible" as they simultaneously mass produce micro-transactions and DLC.

Caught got up in the hype and purchased this in spite of the server issues. Played it for a total of about 6 hours before becoming bored with it's lack of any depth. (altho, oddly enough, no connection issues)

I'm guessing the fact it's on Origin means it has no resell value right?

The one positive is that I've rekindled my interest in Sim City 4. An hour or two downloading a bunch of stuff from Simtropolis really adds so much to the game.

I haven't gotten my copy of 4 yet, but I've been enjoying 3000 again. The lack of instructions is still infuriating, though.

Also, the scroll speed when building or destroying is insane. I destroyed half my town because of it! :D

Apologies denizens of EG Isles 1, I've been away at the in-laws for a week or so and missed out on any spare simcity time. I'd been a little hacked off with the Recycle Bug/glitch and used almost all my money demolishing and rebuilding the Recycle plant so I've not been in a rush to jump back in after my return.

From the looks of the above posts its nothing thats been addressed yet.

    I are sad...

    http://www.polygon.com/2013/3/29/4161422/simcity-pedestrians-teleport

This just about destroys all hope of this game getting patched up. All the oddities we're seeing were a design decision, because otherwise the simulation would have been "too hard" for maxis, or not fun enough.

This isn't the maxis that gave us Simcity 4! :(

I started my own region last week (and now can't find out how to re-jong the EG one) but it's a small 2 x city connected to a single Great Works.

(It's called "Sunrunners Bay" if you're interested).

I figured this would be small enough for me to self-manage and get a Great Works built... How wrong was I!

I can't create enough resources to gain the upgrades to build the final parts needed to make them. Those crazy Maxis developers didn't scale the requirements.

Another 2 weeks+ of gaming I have to throw away.

And we can't nuke 'bad' cities in the EG regions, not that I can find it again.

A big WTF from me. I was actually enjoying it too.

Recycling Centre bug fix on the way \o/

"For the future, in Update 2.0, we’ll be addressing the Recycling Center bug, fixing the fire engine clumping, improving the efficiency of Street Cars, and increasing the radius of river water. We’re also fixing the tuning on Casinos and are making them more profitable. These are just a handful of the substantial changes coming in Update 2.0. "

Tbh if half my city are teleporting to work then I dread to think what my roads would be like if everyone actually took the car, because my roads are already nose to tail gridlocked!

Edit: And really, don't tell me you wouldn't make use of a teleporter if you had one!
