Yes it's Will Smith, yes it's Jaden Smith. Yes the internet loves to hate him, get your "aww hell nawww"'s in and get it over and done with so we can get to the movie itself.

First time I'm hearing about it. Will is a great actor (sure some's irrational hatred for him will overcome them to not acknowledge it) so it's in for a shout.

At least it's not a bloody remake.

    aww hell nawww!

    ;-)

I'm not averse to Will Smith, but I do think he is in way more misses than hits (I Am Legend being probably the biggest stinker of his that sticks in my memory).

M Night Shamalalladingdong as director certainly rings the early warning siren though.

    Will is a great actor
He's a jobbing lead who'll happily take any shitty role offered in any old shit as long as the money's good (I, Robot, Hancock, I Am Legend, the MIBs, Independence Day). Great actors are few and far between. The fact that this tit has his son riding his coat tails is not something to admire.

I like Will Smith. OK he might not be as good an actor as Denzel Washington or some others but he's not a bad actor. And most of his films have been enjoyable. I even enjoyed I Am Legend (at least the zombies in that film carried a threat and were sinister, instead of just shuffling hunks of meat) And Independence day was a popcorntastic movie. Looking forward to this.

Forgotten all about Wild Wild West? ;-)

    M. Night Shamalamadingdong is directing? Now that deserves an "awwww hell naawwwwwwwww".

@Oh-Bollox Acting in shitty roles doesn't necessarily make him a shitty actor. In fact, I'm sure in time as he gets older, he'll want to get in more challenging roles. Took Denzel a lot of bad roles (and some good) before he got to Training Day, and he's gone down hill since then.

Will Smith's performance in I Am Legend is one of it's plus points. Not Oscar worthy, but considering he was by himself for large spells, he did it very well.
i-Robot isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's just more internet crying tbh, as it's not as good as the book. Hancock I can't defend. ID was a smash hit and was done almost 15 years ago for crying out loud.

I'm another one in the "I, Robot isn't actually a turkey" camp, though admittedly we do seem to be a minority.

Smith was quite good in Six Degrees of Separation if you need something outside his high-profile stuff. I quite liked him I Am Legend and I didn't hate Hancock either. Haven't seen anything of M. Night's since The Village, so I'm not ready to throw him over the side for his involvement in After Earth. Although i don't want to be preached at w/ some Message about the environment. Tell a good story, and I'm in.

I see they have finally caught on to not putting M. Night Shyamalan in trailers any more. Must be box office poison.

He was pretty good in Bagger Vance (given what he had to work with; the film being more Bagger Shite), and very good in The Pursuit of Happyness.

What was Ali like? Always meant to get round to watching it at some point. I seem to remember it being pretty well-received, despite coming across as "Token Oscar nomination contribution" material in theory.

Will Smith is ace. Anyone who says he can't act should watch Pursuit of Happyness. Same goes for his kid too.

Come listen to us discuss the Playstation Experience in Episode 11 of Open Source. zoolophage writes in!

I don't care if it's intentional, the typo in the film title has always made me cringe in a way usually reserved for misplaced aprostrophes on coffee mugs and t-shirts.

But yeah, it's a good film.

Ali is Smith's best performance yet (TIME magazine put it in their top 50 performances of all time). Anyone that claims he's not a good actor after watching that is just another irrational geek on a nerd rage.

the film however is rather disappointing. The fights are great, but it drags a lot. But Smith's performance is the best of it. He would've got the Oscar too if it wasn't for Forest Whitaker's more epic performance in the Last King of Scotland (I think the judges felt Smith would get another crack at it, as Whitaker would probably never get a better role).

Shame Whitaker couldn't avoid the black Oscar winners curse (where career post-Oscar goes down hill. See Denzel and Halle Berry too).

@darkmorgado They kinda had to, that's how it was misspelt at the real life nursery. But yeah, rather irritating,

@darkmorgado He plays a brilliant Ali, and I really love the movie too - excellent soundtrack. Is it his real son in Pursuit of Happiness too? That was a real tear-jerker, think I got something in my eye when I watched it. You're all forgetting Bad Boys 2 too, the best movie ever made.

I specifically avoid dudebro/gangsta-culture esque films, no matter how nominal. The lodger loves it though.

Bad Boys 3 already came out, they just stuck it onto the end of Bad Boys 2.

In Bad Boys 2 Michael Bay made me watch 20 min long car chases and i wanted to die.

In Bad Boys 3 they're just gonna banter during a 2hr car chase to save time. True fact.

    Zero star review here!

Others haven't seen much more sympathetic. Looks as though it's bombed in US too.

No fucking getting jiggy looks like saving this.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.
