Haha, yeah, I've just looked and thought, "Hey, it's not that far - just need to whizz through blackburrow"|
Do you get invis at level 1 by any chance as a shaman?
I'll roll one after work tonight and see if I can do a suicide run.
It's not that far from Qeynos though - it's only 1 zone away, so if I can get to Qeynos and get a bind (that will be the hard bit potentially).
I haven't been to Qeynos for 17 years so I don't have a clue whether I need to go back to Halas for my spells or not though.

Fuck, Qeynos doesn't have a shaman's guild. Shitbags.
I'm happy to reroll too. My monk in qeynos is purely nostalgia (my first character back in the day was a ranger in qeynos, dont judge). So would it he easier for us to decide on a starting location and just choose classes/races that fit? I've read on the p1999 wiki that freeport is the best starting area...
That would make sense yeah. I only rolled a druid in Faydwer for nostalgia too.
We need to choose classes then first so we can compliment them. Are you wanting DPS? I'm probably more suited as a backup character that can heal and help out, more than lead and pull if I'm honest as I never really got to know the zones and dungeons that well.
Let me know what class you fancy, and I'll pick the corresponding one from here - https://wiki.project1999.com/Loraen%27s_Class_Selection_Guide
I am thinking dps. But would it be more useful to tank? Or can we just recruit for groups?
Well, if you want to tank, that's cool - I can either go Shaman or Cleric if needs be (my main was a cleric years ago, so I should pick that up easy).
Can go for groups too, but I'm just thinking that if there aren't many people around, or groups full, then we need to be able to duo effectively.
I've read that Loraen's Class Selection Guide about 20 times now and I *still* can't decide.
Warrior or Monk would go well with a shaman
The rest of the (magic) DPS classes seem to go better with the other magic classes.
But this is all theorycraft and I can waffle for england. I say we just go for it with what we want.
I think the most important thing at the moment is starting location/race/class
And I think if I had to choose to reroll, I'd go Shaman.
So that's either Barb in Halas
Ikser (KOS everywher except 1 town in Kunark)
Troll (KOS most places) in Grobb
Ogre (KOS most places) in Oggok.
Fucking yay, lol.
Unless you fancy rolling a Barb Warrior

Anyway, I'll roll something and call it ValHooligan.
If that character isn't online, then it'll be my druid instead (Vinylblair)
I'll stick with the monk if you're just in halas? Can probably meet somewhere around there...
Ok, cool - I'll roll a barb shaman now and see what happens
Which reminds me, what's your character name?
Added your character names to my friends list. My guys name is bobbymonkhouse
Cool. Just rolled Valhooligan

My addictive nature is warning me to back the fuck out of this thread.
I've not got several hundred hours spare these days.
Ok this is ultimate noob. Why can't I click on the quests in square brackets to get quests from quest givers?
Yeah you should join. We'd piss XP as a group of 3
You have to type the stuff the the square brackets.
NPC: Blah balh blah [shiny shield thing] blah blah
You: Shiny shield thing?
edit for double post

Thanks I was there for ages typing all kinds of shit in!
Had a good laugh tonhight. Rolled a barb druid and Geeza rolled a barb warrior. Hard at first in Everfrost (Jesus), but eased up after a few levels. I reckon I'm leveling faster here than in gfay.
We had some, er, amusing incidents at level 1, shall we say
Cool server too - everyone is dead friendly and there's buff's a go-go
Liking this Shaman so far too
And when I say druid, I obviously mean shaman.
Yep, we got owned by those woolly spiders
Was good fun though. And that jump animation - lol!
They are fucking evil at level 1
The jump is the best part of the game if you ask me.
And we gotta go Unrest. It's fucking hilarious
Just looking at some quests in Halas, and going through them, I saw this - https://wiki.project1999.com/Langseax_Quest
Might be a good one for you if you've not already got it. The 2 hander might be especially good if you haven't got a shield yet. 19 damage + stat boosts!
Seems I've missed quite a few quests here. Luckily, I'm at work with access to an a3 colour printer, so will spend the day productively printing out maps and quests

Christ, I'd forgotten how big this game is.
I was looking at the Everfrost map to get my bearings, and it has a section of stuff at the top of the page, including "Adjacent Zones". So you start clicking on the adjacent ones, and about 20 minutes later, I'm looking at places I've never even been to. Like the Timourous Deep for example - https://wiki.project1999.com/Timorous_Deep
So many different places to visit this time round
@quadfather The wiki says that quest is minimum level 20
Yeah, that was the page I was looking at last night when I found out about the guy at the shaman guild who gives out the 8 slot jar for the spider fungus quest. I couldn't do it because my faction wasnt high enough, so I gave all the fungus to you!
I have the bag for the ice goblin necklaces, but only found one last night - but we weren't really killing many goblins to be fair.
Oh and we killed loads of polar bear cubs last night (that sounds so wrong), but not a single polar bear skin for that other quest
Yeah, I've written down who and what I need to do, and that goblin caster bead one is one I need as the reward is good for me.
And cheers for the fungus
Yup, I was looking at that too - and the other 2 types of bears are way out of our range at the moment.
Still, I imagine it'll drop soon if we focus on them. I've just checked on the wiki and it says it's an uncommon drop, which is loads better than Rare or Ultra rare. I remember camping Najena years ago for Journeyman boots. I logged in on a saturday morning, played all day, all night, and half of sunday morning, and they dropped as my head hit the keyboard as I was falling asleep I still have nightmares about that fucking room.
I have buffs for you that should help more now, plus I have a direct damage that we can use to pull as well which should help stop us aggroing loads of other wankers.
What we need is someone who's reading this forum, trying desperately not to join in, to actually join in as a cleric and heal us
