First port of call should be here and pay a pittance for some quality gaming.

You should do that now rather than later as there's only 4 and a bit days left.

@kadooosh I use Avast and Zone alarm on my much slower setup and they don't interfere at all really. I'd add them to be safe, nothing worse than fucking up a good pc.
    Don't do this.

@Dirtbox Explain why. I've always been recommended that security essentials isn't enough on its own.

Yeah, it is. So is the built in firewall.

You don't need that stuff any more.

Using Avast instead is some sort of joke.

Windows firewall and Windows 7 with MSE (or Windows 8 folds all the nice stuff in to Windows Defender for you) and you're laughing.

Install CCleaner, to sort out and free up all the temp crap left on your system. Chrome in particular is very naughty about not cleaning up after itself.

    Here.

Get some good ghosting software that you can use to image your system = just in case the shite hits the fan.

@kadooosh I think you need to manually install it with 7, it's built-in to 8.

So i dont need avast at all. MSE does it all? why does noone tell me these things? what about things like super anti spyware, or stuff like that.

Im right in reading just MSE and windows firewall and defender.

Not only does it auto detect a wired 360 pad, most games that use pads will detect its a proper pad and display the right buttons for it.

I wouldn't bother with any other type of game pad if I'm honest, the standard 360 one is pretty much the, well, standard :p

As far as I'm aware i7 offers no significant fps increase over an i5, but I suppose some people need to stroke that epenis.

    Great games you need:

    Planetside 2
    Dishonored
    Battlefield 3
    DayZ

    dishonored and battlefield yes,

you really dont need dayz unless you want to spend a chunk of money to dick aorund trying to get into a game youll play twice and just walk through a forest then get murdered or kicked.

You'll have enough games that youll barely play DayZ and the standalone game is out soon.

    Cave story
    left4dead 2
    Hotline Miami
    Dustforce
    The dream machine
