Didnt think there would be a lot of sidequests to do, last night i was mucking about and completed a few cat rescues, jack hammer missions, pig launches, racing time trials, caught a robber and conquered some districts. Damn game has lots to do but is much easier to explore when youve unlocked all the outfits though, you seem to rack up big blocks quick too, i amassed 200k in no time and went on a super build spree.

Any game that rewards you for taking a coffee break is GOTY in my book! ;)
Oh, and please do yourself a favour and listen to as much stuff as possible (e.g. when scanning) - some of the stuff you hear is stupidly funny (the pteradactyl joke in the museum had me in stitches! :D)

I tell a fib, you can fast travel once youve unlocked the tram station vending machines. For the first time last night i completed a gang capture side quests. Travelling around the various districts you really notice the distinct style of each, ie chinatown and little italy, great stuff.

Completed the game last night, bloody superb!
    That last mission was incredible!
Loads of fun and with great imagination, I wish more games were this silly :-)
Although the game looks really nice in places I'm disappointed in the technical side of it,
the framerate is shoddy, there's no AA at all which really screws the image quality with shimmering and stuff, I can believe it's sub HD too, I think their engine is a bit poo or the Wii U tools were as rubbish as rumored during earlier development.

I thought that I'd stop after completion with so many other games to play but I think I'll continue to do some unlocking!

Bought this yesterday..... If you own a Wii U then this is a must have game.

One question - How do I spend / use the big bricks I collect?

There are Superbuilds dotted about the place, you use them to build them.

So i've been waiting patiently for this to arrive and i've just found out Amazon have dispatched it to an old address. I wouldn't be so annoyed, but I made sure to pick the right address, which is exactly where the invoice was meant to be delivered!

Been working my way through this, it really is a cracking little game.

Think im almost done now with the story but my completion ratio is still only about 20% so a lot more stuff to do.

I'm getting the impression that although there are a ton of collectibles, it wont take as long to finish as the percentage bar suggests. Still, this really is a great game! It's been a while since i've played through something that's completely stress free, humorous and fascinating. Quite a unique experience in my game collection. I think I spent about an hour just looking for secrets around the police station area.

Once the main story is completed do you just free roam in the different areas & do the collectables?

Yep, that's the idea, plus of course revisiting the levels themselves and getting all the collectibles in them. It'll take you a good while ;)

And now the best bit begins! Almost reminds me of Metroid, going back to all the areas you've already explored to get those items that were tantalisingly out of reach but are now accessible thanks to your upgraded abilities.

Just go for it. The city is your to explore :)

The Gamepad is your map and your scanner to help you find stuff, as well as showing you how many of each thing there is in the current area. It's also worth checking in the Red Brick store in the Police HQ to see if you've got any scanner upgrade available, as some of the stuff can be really tricky to find. You'll also have the levels themselves to revisit and get all the stuff in - the entry points for those are always on the map.

Also, you'll have to switch your Robber disguise to Rex Fury to get some of the secrets. He's the only one that can open certain containers. You should've got the unlock token for him on the last level, so just buy him in the Police HQ. If you missed it, I'm afraid you'll have to replay the level. You get the token during the freefall section near the end.

In any costume booth. As long as you've bought it at the Police HQ for 1 millions studs, you can switch to it at any costume booth. The Rex costume will be at the end of the Robber costumes.

If it weren't for Animal Crossing, i'd have completed this a few months ago. I completed the story sometime in June and still pop it in once a week to complete some of the side missions.

Just done the mountain pig mission and couldnt stop laughing the whole time!  The farmer music is brilliant, as is molesting chickens to fly between buildings.  Riding pigs and dealing with a clearly insane Honey should not be this much fun.  The script is hilarious, especially when the farmer is explaining that those damn mountain pigs get everywhere, just as the camera pans back and one of the pigs is walking up the side of a building.

Genius.  Its very possibly the funniest game I have ever played.  Admittedly its not always hilarious but it does managed to induce grins in between the guffaws.

WOW! Been reading this tread and I can't believe how much hate the WiiU is getting from so-called gamers. It was especially fun seeing all the hate/doomed comments and "shit kids game" stuff when the 1st (and most negative) review came out, all the while disregarding any of the positive reviews as biassed or from flawed publications, culminating in EGs 9/10 from a reviewer who is "obviously" too much into his Lego games to know better.

It's funny that all these posters all but disappeared when people who have been playing the game started commenting on its qualities; people mostly in their 30s as it happened too.

I particularly agree with the following:

I have spent most of my time just messing around. The world is massive and varied and there are some great super builds to well build (hunting the super bricks for them is also fun). Once you've built them you'll be in awe as some of them can be used. It's amazing just how much your character can interact with the enviroment from sliding rails, to bouncy castles, to roller coasters, fun fair games, cow chasing, Segway racing, swimming etc.The world feels more alive than most open world games I've played and is a joy to be in. I'm having as much fun with this as I just have had with Bioshock which I didn't think was possible.

The world is absolutely packed with things to do, more so then the GTA games. The only problem is that lots of these are hidden behind obstacles that require abilities unlocked by doing the main missions, so you sometimes feel like you should get those first before really exploring.
It's a bit of a masterstroke not basing it on one city as it means you get to explore an interesting variety of places like the Golden Gate Bridge and time square, it's really well done.
I must be 8 hours in and around 10% done
Indeed the game is as fun as the EG review makes out to be; I have been playing this in the past week a lot, in over 25 hours by now, and must say that it is a wonderful game, better than expected. It was one of the reasons for purchasing the WiiU, and it hasn't disappointed at all.

Though I bought it along with GTA IV Liberty City Stories for the 360, LCU has taken over all my time, and has put GTA on the back-burner for now. It's just so much fun driving around the city discovering all the little secrets, that I've been neglecting the main missions, sometimes to my detriment too, because as mentioned before many need powers to unlock, powers that can only be obtained by doing the main missions. In fact I'm at 26% and only at the 10th mission, when most reviewers seem to have finished the main missions at around 20%.

I even liked the WiiPad a lot, which I thought felt not good enough a controller at first, turns out it is just a matter of adjusting to it feeling different to regular pads.

Afraid so. There is a 3DS version too but it's not as open and the writing isn't up to the same standard.

The only reason I dont own this game yet is the lack of coop. I really don't get why they didn't put that in when it works so well in the other lego games.
