My Local Smyth's Toy store had stock this morning and when I finished work they were sold out; almost every other retailer is online only, even the likes of Argos and Curry's. How on earth is the Wii U going to survive with the lack of software availability?

The doom and gloom merchants should change their comment from "There's no games on the Wii U" to "There's no-one selling games on the Wii U."

Having good fun with this. The open world is great and there's lots of humour. Loading times are a bit long but apart from that, nothing to complain about. If you like Lego games this is a must buy.

Is there much fun to be had just messing around in the city or is it just a case of doing all the missions? I cancelled my pre-order at the last minute but now kind of regret it.

I have spent most of my time just messing around. The world is massive and varied and there are some great super builds to well build (hunting the super bricks for them is also fun). Once you've built them you'll be in awe as some of them can be used. It's amazing just how much your character can interact with the enviroment from sliding rails, to bouncy castles, to roller coasters, fun fair games, cow chasing, Segway racing, swimming etc.The world feels more alive than most open world games I've played and is a joy to be in. I'm having as much fun with this as I just have had with Bioshock which I didn't think was possible.

My local Smyths has stock, as did Tesco earlier. Had it in my trolley whole way round, and ended up putting it back. Says it all really - I'm a HUGE lego fan and although I think my WiiU is good it hasn't been switched on in weeks now. Might trade it for a 3DSXL and Luigis mansion 2... At least I know I'll play Animal Crossing to death in the summer lol as will my wife.
Sad and sorry state of affairs - I know there are some cracking games on the way but can't get the time to play much more (4 and 2 year old daughters!)

The world is absolutely packed with things to do, more so then the GTA games. The only problem is that lots of these are hidden behind obstacles that require abilities unlocked by doing the main missions, so you sometimes feel like you should get those first before really exploring.
It's a bit of a masterstroke not basing it on one city as it means you get to explore an interesting variety of places like the Golden Gate Bridge and time square, it's really well done.
I must be 8 hours in and around 10% done

@dazcox5181 I've just discovered that Grainger Games have it in stock (42) which rather expensive considering most titles retail at 38 in their stores. I suppose it is cheaper than a trip to Essex. :)

Almost made the mistake of picking this up in GAME at 49.99 after having no luck around town.

Luckily I thought to try and check out argos around the corner. Last copy at 39.99!

I thought the GAME version was overpriced just because of the chase mccain minifig, but no, its just overpriced because it's GAME!

I can't believe this game is as difficult to get as it is. At least it's allowed me to discover the wonders of Luigi's mansion 2, my son made the mistake of leaving his 3ds in the lounge while he went to the toilet hehe.

I tried Argos online only to be told "Unable to reserve and collect" oddly enough I've reserved this copy; obviously The Chase Begins is the 3DS version that releases on the 26th of April so they won't have that in stock.

My wife was watching me play this and asked to try it out...2 hours later, she's still playing. I even like just watching someone else play it. The city is very impressive, so much so that I can't imagine future lego games not being open world like this. So far I've spent more time messing about and exploring than player the proper story. Although there's a lot of stuff locked until you go through the story chapters. I'm about 7 hours in and unlocked about 7% of the content.

The puzzles are mostly logical and the gameplay is relaxing and easy. It does appear to be a lot easier than some of the past lego games. I've only died once or twice after making leaps of faith off of ledges etc.

Gave in picked up the last copy in Tesco been playing for last 2.5 hours. SO MUCH FUN! Ok I might be 32 but never too old for lego!

Definitely keeping the 'limited edition' chase mccain figure in it's packet though lol just in case it becomes collectable.

Argos do have it in there stores but your right it's
incorrectly marked as the 3ds game.
    39.99 if anyone is interested.
Like many on here I've had a job finding the game
on the highstreet for a reasonable price!!
Make that what you will of the wii u's future if software
is a pain to get hold of.

Just a little tip (which I discovered by accident) I will spolier it just in case

when you get to misiion 2 you will have to build a ferry that costs 15000 bricks, this is when you unlock the scan for "super bricks" however I was finding most of them locked, then I discoverd if you get in a car and keep running over breakable objects like lampposts you get a multiplier building up on the blocks, I went from 9000 blocks to 15000 in 5 mins :)

Bought it today from Argos; the error they made was "The Limited Edition is the available in-store" and the game only edition is online only. The game is fun; I only wish I had continued playing instead of watching Newcastle verses City. Going back to it now for an hour before I go to an engagement party.

I'm not feeling it so far. Admittedly only played around 90 mins of it and its my 1st Lego game but so far I just think its average. I've heard it does get better but maybe its just not for me.

Will stick some more hours into it and see if it clicks with me. It is amusing I'll give it that. Just find the gameplay a tad basic but it is very early doors yet so will give it more time.

I always say, lego games begin when you finish them, that is when the real fun begins.. 450 gold bricks for a starter

Anyone had any problems with character voices in mission cutscenes? Been playing for a good 10 hours now and it's always the same there isn't any or it's so low you can't understand. Have had to put subtitles on to follow the plot in these cases. Doesn't ruin the experience but strange.
