it seems it is me being an idiot, all 3DS stuff :(
  • Deleted user 12 March 2013 18:10:44
Anybody else notice that the Wii U VC releases are now showing in the 3DS section of the store? I haven't looked on my 3DS, but if Nintendo were going to cross the two libraries, i'd be a happy man. I've got about 14 Gameboy games and 15 NES games on the 3DS that i'd love to play on the big screen from time to time.

EDIT: Updated early and game now available. :)

I think the Wii U eShop is normally updated at around 3pm, UK time.

I've never heard of this game, but it's coming over to the Wii U. Clearly inspired by Portal, but it looks rather good.

The PC version got 6/10 from Eurogamer.

Ouch. I'll have to look out the review. Hopefully we get more than a straight-up port because it does look fun.

Kirby's Adventure is this week. I love that game. I'd have paid a tenner for it, I love it so. I bought it on NES Virtual Console, and on 3DS, and indeed the NES itself, and would still pay silly money to do it again, so at 30p I'm very happy indeed, as is my wallet :)

When does the actual VC launch? I'm specifically interested in Gamecube stuff, i.e. I want to play Metroid Prime.

So it seems you still can't get the points cards from my local massive Asda, although the response I got suggests I've not been the first person to ask. Fucking shambles.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe that Gamecube games on the virtual console has been confirmed yet, though it is highly likely. I thoroughly recommend the Metorid Trilogy Wii game if you can find it for a decent price though.

I think the VC was meant to launch at some point this month, along with the Spring update, so hopefully some time in the next two weeks. Maybe this next Nintendo Direct will inform us!

Oh, I thought they'd confirmed it. My mistake then.

I looked for Metroid trilogy but it's going for stupid prices online.

They did go as far as to hint at Gamecube games though, which is promising. Whether or not it happens straight away though...

So it seems like Kirby's Adventure is the second NES game to be running at 50hz, although it doesn't seem to be running any slower. Rather we get a white bar running down the left hand side of the screen.

Disapointing. The 3DS VC has been top notch with giving us 60hz versions of games. Hopefully this is somethng they fix when the VC launches and these games go on sale properly.

I'd have probably still bought it if it randomly wiped a random save for another game every time you finished a world, so "it runs like the one you played on NES" isn't really a bad thing for me ;) That white bar is new though. Doesn't bother me, but it's certainly strange. I don't remember the Wii VC version doing that, but maybe it did?

At 30p it's a bargain too, though I'm clearly biased. It's still one of my all time favourite games.
  • Deleted user 20 April 2013 00:25:11
You can't really complain for 30p, but I hope things aren't going to be like this when the service launches properly.

I assumed that all VC games would be 60hz from now on.

Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups innit.

Yep, I couldn't believe it back when I originally discovered the EU download of SNES Mario Kart was the bordered, slow ass PAL version, tsk!

At least we know Earthbound will be 60hz....that is, assuming a team wasn't assigned to do a PAL conversion as one final, to hell with the money, Mother related insult!

This Thursday we are getting the Rayman apology game

Rayman Legends Challenges App (Ubisoft) - Free
Rayman Legends Online Challenges are a unique opportunity for players to compete against each other to climb up the leaderboards. You'll see 4 different paintings which take the player to specific daily and weekly challenges.
Its an odd description that makes it sound like a waste of time. Hopefully not.

Also, there is some posts on Nintendos American facebook page that say the Virtual Console is coming out there in 2 days

I didn't realise the Rayman thing was a free stand-alone game, I assumed it was going to be day 1 DLC. That's nice :)

Sounds not that bad either, apparently it randomly rejigs things daily so there are new challenges every day. No idea how it'll work in practice of course, but give it's free I'm sure we'll all give it a go anyway.

Anybody else finding Kirby unresponsive? If I stand still in an empty area and try jumping I find that he wont jump every 3 or 4 attempts. The same goes for any input.

I know this isn't the case with the 3DS Classics version. Not sure if it's a dodgy emulation, how the game is, or some how a dodgy fault that requires re-downloading.

Definitely not happening with me. Sounds like a really strange fault though, and not the sort of thing you'd expect from a corrupt download. Were you downloading something at the same time? Too many friends online? Are you using the Gamepad or Pro Controller? There has to be something, surely

For reference, I play it on the Gamepad, whilst nothing is downloading and never with more than 5 friends online at the same time.
  • Deleted user 24 April 2013 20:48:45
I was playing on the gamepad at the time. Could have been the result of a dodgy connection. Bristol hasn't offered up the best connection i've ever had.

So, being as it's Thursday can we expect the OS update today?
  • Deleted user 25 April 2013 09:24:56
Wasn't it due the day after the eShop update? I can't remember. I'm confused.

I guess that would be tomorrow then?
  • Deleted user 25 April 2013 09:40:20
Apparently Nintendo didn't give a specific date for the update (according to Nintendo Life), but it has to appear before the Virtual Console goes live, apparently. I wonder if we'll see the update today and the games tomorrow, in that case. It's really quite vague...
