    @jasondonervan

I made a donation myself because I was a C64 and Amiga 500 owner and had mountains of their games.
Along with System 3 and Sensible Software, they were one of the best.

One of the first Spectrum comps I got was this:

Ocean holds a dear place in my gaming heart. That logo used to signify quality back then, I'd love to pore through it's past in a well-crafted book. I'll likely chuck a few coins in the hat for this kickstarter.

    My first ever Spectrum game:

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Robocop was a classic. The second and fourth levels were so memorable. "Shoot him in the knackers" and the ID level. Also the theme music was great. Memorable due to being used in the "Ariston, On and On" adverts.

Does anyone remember the mail order company back then, where you would be sent a little catalogue called 'PROGRAM'? They'd snag you in with a deal similar to VHS clubs - e.g. pay 99p for the first 5 games of your choice, then order a minimum of one game every few months for a year... I'm not sure if my memory serves me right, but I'm fairly sure they used to have exclusive bundles, which often amounted to little more than a re-sleeve of a few games (Ocean ones, mainly). Am I going mad or did all that actually happen? :)

Possibly, did SR exist in the 8-bit era? I remember the ads they used to run in mags around the early 90s... I actually have some of those old catalogues up in the loft somewhere, so I'll make an effort to dig them out and see who it was that used to take 5.95/8.95 from my Dad on a bi-monthly basis back then :D

Special Reserve was more of a subscription to get cheaper prices I think.
I remember the type of thing he's referring to, used to see lots of ads for book clubs run on similar lines. Great first offer, then you are tied in to a year of expensive books, once a month - if you don't pick they just send you one! I'm sure everyone's Mum and Dad will have joined up...once!

I don't remember them as being a particularly AAA company (they were the EA of their day), but there are some stoaters on the Magnificent 7 box set. Short Circuit the weakest, it wasn't too bad, but every other title was excellent.

@DaM Yeh but Ocean didnt buy everyone's gaming studio and slowly put them to death. Ocean biggest assest seemed to be able to get the licence for movies and such.

Was it called "Home Computer Club"? I remember it had a couple of exclusives too, such as the Total Eclipse 2 bundled with the original (possibly the Castle Master sequel too)

I've never played that on emu, it would just ruin my memories of it.
I played Dynamite Dan this week, almost unrecognisable from what I remembered :(

If Ocean were to release one more games pack, which games would you want in it?

Dragon Ninja,Pang and Chase HQ would have to be in there.

Only know Ocean games on the C64, but they were, while technically competent, absolutely shit from a gameplay perspective. Every single one of them.

The prediction is not looking too bad at the moment, and that's before you factor in the supposed 'kickstarter week 2' effect and the bump you'll always get at the end if a project almost makes it. Look at the SEGA book for comparison.
