What's it missing? I can't remember it having any other features when it was the app. Just save it as an icon thing.

@Tonka Have a look at Video Tube, seems a lot faster at playing than other YT apps also let's you download the videos for offline viewing. Downside, it doesn't have a log in facility.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

@Tonka, scratch that above suggestion, I've found the definitive version now! It's called McTube, you can log in with your account details, it's fast and can even cache the files automatically for offline viewing. Impressived with it so far. Free version available with ads, but I bought it for 1.49 ad free.

@mrpon Apple are doing their best to force me into iOS6. Safari is notably slower than before. iPhoto won't upgrade to the latest version.

Fuck you very much for that Apple BTW. I'm all for not overly supporting old platforms OS versions but to kill a first party App after ONE OS upgrade is not acceptable.

So fuck off Apple. Fuck you to fucking hell you bunch of fuckmuppets.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

    Why would you not upgrade?

It ads nothing I want and takes away two things I use on a daily basis.

I have to applaud them for downgrading their OS though. Must be a first.

Christ. Just add a bookmark to the actual site on your home screen or use the official Google app, both of which are better than the original.

The idea nick was to find an exact replica of the original YT app for our kids to use. Bookmark no good, completely different interface. Official app no good, there isn't an iPad version.

I haven't upgraded purely because I'm too lazy. Will get round to it at some point I guess.

I was talking to Tonka but if your kids can work out the crappy preinstalled app, Shirley they can figure out the web version?

Afraid not, she just throws it down in a fit of rage when she presses the wrong thing. I'm pandering of course, but hey if you can't spoil your first born.

If I hadn't been upgrading my 4 to a 5, never in a million years would I have given up jailbreak for iOS6. That said, I don't see much of a downgrade using a shortcut to Google's mobile web page for shops/ specific destinations and using turn by turn in Apple maps when Im driving. Apple maps is garbage when I've done vague searches for random stuff, but when I've actually used it irl it's been 100% so far amazingly.

It's rubbish for finding shops etc (at least in Geneva) but seems to be fine for getting around. Google was unusable when driving, so the bar wasn't too high. It really doesn't bother me too much.

The nokia maps application is pretty good as well.

I wish you could roll back the OS. The only thing worse than iOS6 is iTunes 11...

Since the iTunes update, I cannot connect to app store using the app on my iPod. Which is most annoying, especially when there are updates waiting to be downloaded.

iTunes 11 is a big improvement. Much faster and cleaner (on a mac anyway), and you can resurrect the sidebar of old if you wish. I have. I've read people encouraging using the new way to navigate, but that generally means two clicks instead instead of one, so I'm sticking to old ways.

I've rolled all the way back to a point where my PC no longer has iTunes on it at all.

In other news... Does anyone want to buy my 4th gen 64GB iPod? :)

The new offical YouTube app is out and very good. It also work on iOS5 so there is no need for me to "up"grade to IOS6.

Two questions to those of you who have a deeper understanding of the Cupertino Giant than I do.
1 Why aren't I allowed to adjust the volume in the YouTube app? In the software that is.
2 Why do I have to sign into Twitter system wide to share a YouTube video?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

The turn by turn mapping is ace, once you get apple maps to recognise a place name of course (postcodes seem to be the best bet ATM). It even works seamlessly plugged into the car, fading down music to play directions. Worth upgrading on its own.

I like the way the icon for Apple Maps shows it giving directions to drive off the side of a bridge.

Been away from iOS for a while, am pleased to see they have still not fixed the background downloading problem.

Downloading the latest copy of the Arsenal Programme? Don't let your ipad turn itself off, or use another app. Syncing your Spotify playlist? Stare at the sync bar until its finished without letting it turn itself off or lock
