Get Timothy Zahn to write it, keep Lucas well away and it may turn out ok.

Oh and release the original trilogy in the original form on BR please Disney.

    This space left intentionally blank.

    This I am cool with:

In a statement announcing the purchase, Disney said it planned to release new film Star Wars Episode 7 in 2015.

That will be followed by Episodes 8 and 9
    This, not so much:

and then one new movie every two or three years, the company said.

They should just start at Episode I again, pretend it never happened.

Disney though? I mean, I know Star Wars is essentially a kids film that appeals to a broader range, but Disney, gah.

I'll add to that with a "Noooooooooooooooooooooo" of my own:

Lucas to remain as Creative Consultant

Shame this didn't happen 10 years ago.

Good to see George earn a few quid out of the deal though, I'm sure he needed it.

The franchise has now become the sci-fi equivalent of Police Academy.

Probably worth looking up what films Disney have produced, no?

Bloody hell I didn't see that one coming!

One part of me is thinking that Disney are going to butcher the series but the other half of me is saying that that is is exactly what Lucas did with Eps 1-3 anyway so the new ones can't be any worse than those.

    Possibly.

Remember, the force will be with you. Always!

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Indiana Jones though I suppose that is Harrison Ford so not as valuable.

I'm actually quite excited. Forget the other films existed for a start or very loosely relate to them, they are pretty worthless for story and universe continuity.

Such a good opportunity to do something great. Hope they don't end up average run of the mill comic movies.

Everything after the ESB is Disney anyway. The current franchise ends on a massive Disney note. Ewoks FFS.

They'll be shit, especially if Lucas still has a say. Besides the damage has been done with the PT. I also don't want to know what happens after the end of ROTJ.

A musical with the Care Bears dropping by and some more racist subtexts.

If the new trilogy is based on Zahn's Thrawn trilogy then this could be a very good thing.

Let's face it, Lucas hasn't exactly done his own creation justice for many years. It's probably for the best that it's been taken completely out of his hands now.

My only worry is that Disney don't respect the substantial expanded universe that has been built up over the years - much of the novels, comics etc have completely eclipsed the quality of the films that spawned them. It would be a huge shame, as well as piss off a massive amount of fans, if they suddenly rendered all of that obsolete.

Disney must be having a victory wank right now.

They can now alternate Star Wars and Marvel movies every summer.

Hope they do, just to see the massive nerd breakdown. I love Star Wars but itd be worth it.

Bet you'll see a Star Wars level in next-gen Kingdom Hearts now.
