I have had one since July. And bought one for my brother in Uganda. At £200, it would have been rude not to. It has arrived in Kampala, ready to be picked up.
Curse my indecisiveness!
I was a moment away from purchasing this morning. Now it's gone. Forever.
What's strange is it's gone from all the official retailers (amazon, John Lewis, Tesco, PC World and Google), all at the same time. How can stock sell out in exact unison like that?

Still showing on the Google site for me.
Ah, the 16gb is still there, the 8gb is gone.
Guess the 16gb will be gone soon too. Back to my indecisiveness
Thanks Jim, sensible words, so I just went to buy it.
AND IT'S GONE.
Wasn't really about the money (other than the fact that Nexus devices are extremely well priced). Google are obviously on the verge of announcing new phones, so I didn't want to get one and it be superseded only a few weeks later.
The problem is all the rumours are pointing to a 5" phone, and there hasn't been a whiff of a new Nexus 4, and I don't think I want a 5" phone.
Has anyone got a 5" device? Is it as unweildy as I imagine? Does it make you feel like Dom Jolly when making a call?

Was torn between the Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy range and in the end went for the Galaxy S3. A mate has the Galaxy S4 and it is quite gorgeous but a little too much cash (about £500 when I looked).
A simply stunning phone with a beautiful clear screen and so easy to use and set up. Got it from Argos sim free for £290 and would highly recommend if anyone reading this is unsure of what to buy.
The Nexus (if you can get one still) is cheaper but just as good. I don't think you can go wong with either choice.
Ps. the downloading of pics and songs to laptop is a bit of a faff though (on the Galaxy).
... the Nexus 5 will be available very soon for probably the same price as last year; £229 and £279 respectively. I reckon they may well start at 16GB this time round too and offer 32GB for the slightly more dearer model, just like the recent-ish Nexus 7 tablet.

I have a galaxy s4band in like the five inch screen for reading and watching Netflix while I had no computer. But it can be a bit unwieldy, firing off a quick text or something can be hard with one hand.
... or something can be hard with one hand.
So I'm chuffed I missed the Nexus 4. The Nexus 5 has a larger screen but the phone itself is actually smaller than a Nexus 4.
Will also be similarly priced with the 16gb going for $349 which translates to £279 going by the old prices.
Day 1 for me if they release it before November when I travel.

I be just discovered Xposed framework and installable modules for stock or AOSP ROMs† basically all the good things about custom ROMs without all the shitty buggy crap that goes with them.††
@L0cky How the bloomin fuck will that work? Shorter maybe, but surely it has to be wider to accommodate a larger screen.
Wondered that myself. When I say smaller, I mean 2 x 0.5 x 0.5mm
Device: 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1mm
Device: 131.9 x 68.2 x 8.6mm
You can see from the pics that the Nexus 5 has less bevel and more screen.
I'm all for a bigger screen but I think the size of the N4 is bang on target for how big a phone can be. I also like that they dropped the nanocoated extra slippy backside.
Didn't they do that with the s3 - s4?

Bought my S3 off ebay novemberish last year second hand for about £279. Just had a look at RPC recycle and i can still get about £170 for it if i trade it in now, thats pretty impressive! I could get a nexus 5 for about £100.
Can't see many places that take Nexus 4s in exchange though.
When is the likely release date on the nexus5?
Depending on when the nokia 515 goes on sale, I might get a nexus5 instead. It's definitely between the two anyway.
Nexus 4 was released 2 weeks after the announcement. Nexus 5 should be announced on Friday.
There's an outside chance they could say 'available today', which I'm hoping for else I can't get one until December when no doubt there'll be stock issues :/
Calling batphone to mods to change title to 'Google Nexus' to save us another thread?
The Nexus 4 was unveiled on the last week of October last year and was available to purchase about ten days later in early November ... I think so!
I reckon we'll see it this week sometime.
On another note, the Nokia 515 is absolutely gorgeous.
Before I had an iPhone 3GS, a (Sony) Xperia S and what I have now, a Lumia 820, this is what I had and it looks starling similar to the one you mentioned:
Nokia are still the best in the business with their enviable and attractive phone designs.
@CharlieStCloud It really is a lovely looking phone. I don't have any data on my contract (for the time being) so the lack of wi-fi is a slight issue though.
On further research, however, it seems it won't be getting a release in this country. I wonder if I imported it from Germany whether it'd work OK...
Are you guys lusting over a feature phone? Only pics I find of a Nokia 515 look like something from 1999
The whole phone is made out of reinforced aluminium Tonka!
You'll be surprised just how far 'feature phones' have come too.
... sure, the wealth of apps is better on all three other phone OS, but nothing and I mean NOTHING is better than physical buttons to text and more often than not, they offer superior call quality.
A bit of a bummer about the lack of Wi-Fi though imamazed, hey?
