A few forumites have been discussing this on Twitter but apparently it has no thread? Anyone else watch it? Gist of first episode seems to be "like Batman Begins, but he opts for a Robin Hood costume instead of a bat, gets a bow and learns parkour".

    So Green Arrow begins then.

Why is this filmed in the same style as The OC/Gossip Girl? It's awful.

    Get bent.

I think they're probably assuming that because girls and gay men won't be watching this, nobody will notice.

I'm not sure, they've gone with a very good looking male cast. The scene where he was using his pull up bar as an adjustable ladder was turning me temporarily gay.

I had to laugh at the incredibly handsome and beautiful cast. No doubt the manscara will intensify as the series progresses.

Yeah, he's got a couple of girls I know watching it and they think it's great.

It's not, it's alright, but it is Green Arrow Begins: The Star City Years. It has a more convincing overarching plot but it's just Smallville again.

Seen the first two episodes and I'm enjoying it, it's much more violent than Oliver Queen was in Smallville for a start.

No idea why they changed the name of the city though.

I liked the bunny hop jump he did chasing a bad across a roof top.

Because Green Arrow doesn't live in Metropolis.

Anyway, first ep was ok, second ep was rubbish. Bad guy of the week from the diary is a pretty weak idea.

Is he in the 'capture villains and incarcerate them' club or the 'corner the bastards and stick an arrow up their A hole!' camp? If its the former than a bow and fucking arrow is a little bit overkill...

He seems to wander about killing everything that moves and then sticks the bad dude in front of the cops.

It's very odd tonally, Batman Begins meets Smallville.

Also, it has a narration worse than Blade Runner.

    Avoid.

So is this done by the same lot who did Smallville, then? If so I think I'll steer clear, as Smallville was fucking dreadful.

@Whizzo Sorry, thought you meant GA lived in Metropolis following your last post. It's still shit anyway.

Yes it fucking was but so far this is more violent, he actually kills people with his arrows, unlike Smallville where Clark killed people with his incompetence.

I'm of the opinion that this is a bit turd. I think the only character I like is Arrow's bodyguard, cos he tells him how much of a twat he is.

First episode was alright. Not sure I'll stick with it for a whole series though.

So this is total wank. Scenes are wholesale ripped off the Nolan Batman films which is a) embarrassing a b) forcing you to compare the two, which is not a comparison it comes out of favourably.

Bad acting, bad writing, bad action. Wank wank wank. It's fucking awful and guaranteed to get cancelled.

Its hilarious. He murders henchmen with gay abandon, then lets the bosses face justice because itís the right thing to do. Just kill them, you bender. The character is just all over the place. He snaps a guys neck because he doesnít want anyone to know his secret, then he lets some army guy who he just met and continually humiliates into his inner sanctum.

And, my god, having an island mystery..

A friend showed me the episode that had the bank robbers in it. I think it's the newest one.

His little sister is a looker, but the other two looked like their faces would melt if exposed to sunlight. I think seeing it in HD really made the makeup stand out or something.

There was something about his ghost dad stopping him from killing himself, and... uh... invisible ink? Like a list of names or something? Why wouldn't his dad just tell him?

That being said, it might be better if I wasn't watching it as a stand-alone thing. But I'm not exactly aching to see another episode either.

You can see the grime of smallville all over it (overbearing woman, mass fanfares) but its hard to see where game of thrones come in other than the camera filters for the island thing.
