Ohhhh. Sorry, I thought they were going for a pun and failing.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Wow! Were people really complaining earlier about OVER moderation? Jesus.

One regular troll posts hardcore gay porn on a thread and merely gets a slap on the wrist. No other site I have ever go on would allow that sort of shit.

As regards the initial point of this thread, I like the variety of articles and editorials. Gaming is now much more mainstream than it ever has been and I am glad that the journalism is growing alongside.

Erm... if you're referring to slickloose he was banned permanently for that.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

    This place is awful.

When I first joined, I was on a pay as you post model. As you can see, that was scrapped because the site could not afford to keep my services. We also had Furbs back then. The Eurogamer Forum God Furbs. He was the boss, and this placed enjoyed its best days under him. Since he left, the forum has gotten dull. There is no new Furbs on the horizon. I honestly hope a new Furbs steps up. Prove me wrong and become our new Furbs.

    Combine red and yellow.

Orange would be a good colour scheme for this place.
    That would never work ;-)

@agparrot That's the thing it's not diverse at all. Every single major gaming site likes to flaunt the exact same opinions and ideals, now EG has joined the liberal clique. If they wanted to be more diverse they would argue for and against the point instead of turning it into a political soapbox for their own agendas.

If everybody else is saying the same, it's hardly a clique, is it?

    Also, are they? Really?

We are saying that they are being exploited and its wrong. Should we not ask them? Or are they too stupid to know and need us edumacated people to make moral decisions on their behalf?

I've always thought the people being exploited are the nerds they flirt with personally. They're the ones paying, not being paid.

I thought that was the point people were making (which is why they create a rather odd atmosphere, imo). Gah, this place moves too fast for work-hours.

@nickthegun As a reader I'm merely putting my opinion out there and you assume a lot, you think I'm a Daily Mail reader when really I despise the Daily Mail.

Also on your other point, I would have accepted the viewpoint to make the expo more family friendly the booth babes need to go, and I would have accepted the viewpoint "we don't want booth babes because we want to be different" but the holier than thou liberal viewpoint is extremely jarring, and lets remember they are the ones who flagged it as an issue, and threw it into the arena to fight over.

Also maybe we shouldn't keep focussing on this one story because I am talking about social commentary and political stances edging into gaming news. The only people who think commentary is needed are the journalists whether it be to have their own giant megaphone to voice their opinion beyond reviewing or to get cheap hits by baiting "issues."

Morriss believes the representatives of the product should have expertise on it, most likely his solution is along the lines of what EG is doing.

Thing is that particular solution doesn't even work because banning booth babes will not stop companies hiring beautiful women, and sometimes men, to staff their booths, because overall they want exposure and presence.

It's still a symbol of elitism. People are weak and need to be protected by the enlightened. Maybe we should only let people with Masters degrees have the vote?

Clearly the OP has identified the "liberal elite" which is taking over all non-Murdoch journalism. You know, the nasty sub-culture Rick Santorum recently referred to as "smart people".

I think I'm agreeing with you really. I don't really think anyone is being exploited in way I understand the word. I'm not saying the sex industry isn't exploitative as a general rule, but at the softest end of it (glamour models and such) I think the power probably lies with the girls.

I do think if EG want to have a different vibe without the booth babes at their show then fair dos though. That's up to them. Not sure that's really what you're arguing against though. I've lost track a bit. Ho hum.

I agree with you, mate. I just think the mostly-male White Knights who are somehow "offended" by their presence are funny.

Someone ought to take a stand and support the needs of podgy nerd gaming wankers. What is wrong with combining game reporting with porny fantasies?

    Fight the power OP.

Fuck me, will you lot either start whining about EG Expo booth babes OR EG journo pinko scum.

Stop sitting on the fence regarding the direction of this thread. The level of recursion between topic/posts has us all stuck in a mobius loop.

If those pics of them booth babes has taught me one thing then it's that the recruitment policy at Nvidia has the edge over Virgin's.

    This.
It angers me that game companies think the best way to sell videogames is to have scantily clad girls tell me to. Isn't the game good enough on it's own?

A normal reaction to a pretty girl is I'd like to wear her skin not "Mmmm... maybe I should buy a video game"

The whole thing is so utterly retarded. I'm surprised that some people think this is about defending helpless dames. It's an insult to gamers is what it is.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.
