Anyone got any advice for an aspiring Mage? I'm currently at lvl 26 (Frost Build), and my damage output seems a bit...lacking. Currently in the Wetlands, and things aren't going down a quickly as they were in the teenie levels.

I know Frost is more geared towards survivability, but my pet can't tank for shit. Would I get better results speccing Arcane, or Fire?

Also, anyone have any good lvling tips (which zones, etc..)

Loving the game, btw (not played since beta..)

God damn it! I've been clean well over a year now, but I'm getting seriously tempted to resub for Pandaria. Must resist...

My CE hasn't been dispatched by Shopto yet, which means I won't get to sample MOP this evening when it goes live :-(

I have a thing for Blizzard CEs though. There's something about those great big boxes on my shelf.

And I'm a sucker for artbooks.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

All of this MoP talk makes me feel like 85 is an eternity away.

@darkmorgado Same here. Did exactly the same for Wrath and Cata. I never learn. :(

I've levelled a mage recently as Fire and it seems a bit OP tbh. Absolutely chewed through enemies while questing and it's good in dungeons too.

Considering the new expansion was worked on by a different team... is it worth getting? The engine really shows its age of late (both game and graphics).

Depends on your love for WoW really. The general consensus from the Beta seems to be that this is a much stronger expansion than Cata simply because it's almost 100% focused on delivering new End Game content. But at the same time, MoP doesn't really do anything dramatically new with the game.

It's still the same old grind to level 90 through new zones and dungeons before hitting the heroics and raids.

The stand out aspect of the expansion is apparently the art style and design of the new zones which have more of an open ended flow to them, so you aren't just bottle necked into different areas of each zone for an hour or so before moving on to the next section.

Personally I'm a little disappointed Blizzard haven't made more of an effort to shake things up a little with this expansion, but I guess the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of rings true when they are still making millions from the game.

As someone who has zero experience with the new talent system, whats the new rotation for an arcane mage?

So basically same shit at 10+ extra on the price of previous expansions... but no updates to graphics engines, game engines, object models or anything like that. Hmmm. I'll wait until the world servers stop crashing.

Blast to three or four stacks, Barrage to reset, Missiles every time it procs. One odd the bombs on bosses. Dunno about cooldowns.

    I've just registered my CE.

What's pretty cool is that because I have the annual pass, and also the Diablo 3 CE, I've been given an additional 4 months of WoW gametime gratis.

So the increased price of the MoP CE has just been offset.

    Which is nice.

    @Goodfella

    Cheers!

I normally read Arcane Brilliance for my mage info, but beyond an old article looking at all three specs in the beta I couldn't find anything arcane-specific

The Pandaren starter zone is very nice, not quite as epic as the Death Knight experience (which will be very, very hard to ever beat) but it has a very calming atmosphere to it and a fairly interesting story to follow. Certainly more interesting than the Goblin and Worgen ones which I've always felt rushed you through the zones without giving you time to breathe.

The only downside is that Blizzard seem to have forgot to create any 'unique' quests so your basically just doing the same old 'Kill 10 of these' type quests over and over.
