Soft reset attempted. Soft attempt failed. I don't quite know what else to do. Factory reset is probably the next step? My Words with Friends live tile isn't updating or opening. Nor is FB or my Soundcloud equivalent (to listen and download The Bugle.

Unfortunately, I have got exactly the same problem(s) as you Mr. Vice Destoyer ...

... apart from AlphaJax and Gmail, nothing else gets updated, even after deleting the apps and giving them a fresh install. I cannot say it bothers me an awful lot, but the point is, they should be working!

I am happy to wait until the next update (the so-called Apollo Plus) before I consider doing a factory reset. I only have about ten apps from the store on my tiles page and another eight or nine default tiles so, it is not a busy or hard working set-up ... unlike the look of yours!

    : )

Good lord that's a packed start screen :D

Sorry it didn't work. I would say consider contacting the app devs, but you mention the FB app (The Microsoft published one, I assume?) and I don't have any problems opening that. It doesn't update my status/notifications unless I open it, but I did turn off push notifications (because it was constantly pinging while I was commenting back and forth on my PC...), so that might have also affected the tile. It's not a problem for me, as I tend to just use the Me/People Hub tiles for FB stuff on my phone.

Have you tried the WPCentral Forums to see if anyone else has figured out a fix?

Thanks for the WPCentral Forum tip. I did have a glance on there, but not intense look. I will do now. Who knows, I might get lucky.

And yeah, I guess that I have a busy start screen. :) Believe it or not, I am still praying for a few more apps to arrive on WP8. The patron saints of WP have until Christmas to make a competent Sky app, Barclays mobile banking app and an orientation lock appear on this OS. I like it, but I end up using my old iPhone more than I should for a discarded phone because of this app gap.

No worries. It can be a bit messy on there, threads start up and barely get looked at, which just adds to the mess, but there's a good number of threads on there that are pretty active, so you never know.

At least you're giving it a fair chance. I'm not particularly bothered about apps, as my most-used things are the baked-in FB, the browser and music player, but I appreciate that I'm probably in a tiny minority!

Having said that, since the Natwest app launched (and I finally bothered to sort out internet banking!), I've been using that a lot.

    I have an HTC 8S. Or 8X. Something. WP8.

Is there an update due to deal with this absurd 'Other' issue? I have no space left on my internal storage, and 75% of it is NOT MY DOING.

Nokia have pushed one out for their devices. That doesn't help you though. There's an app on the store that supposedly cleans it up. I'll try and remember what it was called...

    EDIT Here you go.

What I had heard, is that they would stop doing the support for *new* WP8 customers. New, as in new guys as of January 2013. I thought I was safe But it looks like I am not. Here is some more about this shit

After much procrastinating, I have my Lumia 720 now. Sure, I could've stretched for an 820 but I liked the 720 aesthetic much more; the curved glass is luverly! Shame it's only 512 MB RAM.

four free games available this week

    Gravity Guy (WP) - FREE
    Monster Island (WP) - FREE
    iStunt 2 (WP) - FREE
    Fragger (WP) - FREE

    Any of them worth playing?

I'd try, if my PHONE LET ME STORE ANYTHING ON IT. I lose storage by just using the internet, and I can't even get it back again. Stupid fucking thing.

@dancingrob Of those, I've only played Gravity Guy. It's pretty good - and endless runner where you flip gravity to get by. The (completely different) sequel came out recently.

@RedSparrows Did you try that app I linked? A mate of mine has an 8S and it reclaimed about 500MB for him.

thanks, since my initial post I realised there were web versions of them all, and have grabbed Gravity Guy.

Didn't bother with the others. Fragger / Monster Island are both Angry Birds clones with virtually identical gameplay, and istunt wasn't much better.

I did, thank you. It reclaimed 48mb (?!) which was then lost within a day. To what? I have no idea.

Ah, bollocks. Ok, have you tried clearing out your browser and search history? That can clear out a surprising amount of space, especially if you haven't done it in some time.

Microsoft really need to get a move on and fix this issue. The latest Nokia update helps, but doesn't eliminate the problem.

    I have done that too.

It's absurd. I can't actually get cookies now, because the phone says it is full.

I have 5GB free on my SD, but oh no, can't use that.

@RedSparrows A fair few people have been very vocal about not being able to install apps on the SD, so hopefully Microsoft will also address that with an update. It won't do me any good, as I have a Lumia 920. 32GB is sufficient for me though - I got through 2 years on an 8GB Omnia 7 with no expandable storage.

They really need to start pushing out updates to things like this much quicker. Surely bug fixes don't need to be bundled into OS updates.

I'm of the view that when the update comes, my phone will refuse to install it due to a lack of space, and then I'll throw the thing into a river.

That's a good point, actually... There must be some sort of provision for that, surely.

I am still holding my breadth for this device. WP8 does look good, but I am more worried about the lack of available apps and games on the store. I wish Microsoft would try hard to entice more developers to develop better and better game.
I also wonder whether there will be any jailbreak available for WP8 or not.

@sonaligaur Have a WP8 phone AND an android tablet or ipad! Sorted!

I can't say mobile phones have ever genuinely excited me before but now I'm completely and utterly enamoured with my 720! Lack of apps was my concern too before but having identified what is essential to me, I'm honestly content with what is available from the WP store. Granted, I still may be in the 'ooh, new shiny gadget phase' though!

@Mageme Agreed, I'm loving my htc 8s (although the screen is already cracked)... I don't use that many apps and the main ones are on there already so I'm satisfied.

Also, connected it to my work email with no issues, the in built office apps are great as well, so all round very pleased.
