Duel booting sounds annoying. Waiting for Android to boot up so I can check something in an app is too much effort.

@DangerM0use As Charlie said, it's best to wait a couple of weeks and see what's unveiled.

Beyond that, you can't go wrong with either of those though, they are essentially the same phone with a different body. The only other differences are the better camera and 2GB RAM in the 1020.

I'm not up for renewal for another 7 months, so I hope there's a new model with that camera around then.

Curious as to in what world a dual os booting phone is useful. Sounds very much like a leap too far in the phone/personal computer game. A stupid idea that I can definitely imagine Microsoft thinking up.
Oh from a user prespective, it's pretty useless. Most will just stick with Android.

It's smart in that it rapidly boosts up WP marketshare, in turn making it far easier to get devs to develop for it. More devs, more apps, which is the real issue with WP.
  • Deleted user 9 October 2013 15:47:22
Devs aren't going to develop for a system because the stats says the market share has jumped if the stats are hiding the fact that the os is partitioned and never used. Nothing actually changes apart from making it even harder for app devs to target uniform device stats (screen sizes, power etc.). It's a really stupid idea in all senses and there is a reason it never got anywhere before.
  • Deleted user 9 October 2013 15:49:53
This is even assuming that the ability to dual boot is actually marketable to the public. Which I can tell you right now, it absolutely isn't. If anything it is offputting and would serious drag back androids push to be more user friendly and uniform.

Also a daft and pointless idea. It is stupid 'why not!' ideas like this that make my Samsung s4 so full of crap.

@CharlieStCloud cheers, contract is not actually up until 22nd November (!) , so I was going to wait anyway.

Been hearing of a 5" 1320 that if looks like render could be good. http://phon.es/2n5v

Not that I disagree Mowgli, but you have a way of portraying your views in a very aggressive manner.

Calling people's opinions "daft" and pointless is....

If Windows phones could run Android apps surely devs would actually stop making WP apps as there would be no point? It would be self-defeating.

Did anybody download an OS update recently? I did last night and now my phone can't find my mobile network (T-Mobile). Is my phone fucked?

I like lots of things but sometimes you have to take a second and think about an idea in practice before praising it. Dual booting is an outright stupid idea and there is a reason it wasn't taken seriously before.

From what I remember of the kinect thread monkey you seem to have zero capability to imagine an idea in practice before getting excited about it.

I think it's funny how mobile phones of old used to resemble bricks, then there was a drive to make things smaller and now the fashion is to make them big again!

Anyway, 1520 not for me; is too big for my small girly hands. Still committed to getting a 1020. I like the look of the 2520 though.

I have a Lumia 521. It's probably the most budget of the Windows Phone handsets (and I think the smallest too), but I really really like it.

So whats the deal with app on the WP and W8 stores? Are companies not bringing them? MS being a bit strict? slow in rolling them out?
  • Deleted user 22 October 2013 15:50:15
It's just a more limited selection, is all. Which in a way is a bit of a blessing as you don't have a billion to choose from. For non-game stuff it's a bit of a non-issue, as there's very little that doesn't have some sort of alternative if the specific app you want isn't ported. Could probably be frustrating if you want to use it as a games device though.

I guess the whole Nokia event in Dubai this morning was about 'going big'.

... two daftly silly sized 'phones' and a gorgeous tablet that makes the Surface 2 blush.

A shame there was no showing of the sequel to last years Lumia 820 and 920.

@CharlieStCloud Well to be fair, it was all pretty much as expected anyway.

I'm hoping that by the time I'm up for renewal in about six months there'll be an updated 1020. I want that camera.
