Flowers are a way for ugly men to get laid. Me I just show the good lady my cock, they swoon, I throw them over my shoulder and take them out back to the skewering room. -

There's this thing called the internet ...
Where can I get flowers sent to someone's workplace?
Good tip on local florists. I got my grandma some flowers for her birthday a year or two back.
Managed to find a website of a local florist, rang them up, gave him credit card details & arranged a 25€ bouquet. On interflora and the likes you get a really naff looking crappy bunch of flowers for that.
My grandma got a massive bouquet, it looked like it costed at least 50€.

Good advice. I guess that something similar to the Yellow Pages/ yell.com would be useful, then.Ryze wrote:
Rather than use web based flower sending services and their over inflated prices, just do what they do and call the florist nearest the recipients address. That way you'll cut out the commission, and get a much better bouquet for the same price.Razz wrote:
Er... Interflora for a kick off, but they're expensive, so Google around as there are cheaper ones.

Maybe use Interflora or somewhere to choose the sort of flowers you'd be after, then cut out the middle man and call the local florist directly. Sounds good. -

Registered 10 years agoAlways getting moaned at for not buying flowers. I'm just exceptionally lazy. If we do the shop together then I nip off and get some for her, but most of the time we're not, so she buys her own. Whoops. -

Registered 7 years ago^ Wander out sometime when you're shopping for games/tech or whatever, and just get something tiny. Leave it somewhere that's not obvious, but where she WILL actually find it.
The element of surprise works wonders with girl gifts - WAY over and above the price.

I really need to get back on this stuff. If I put more effort in, I could be having them fall in love!

Registered 8 years agoAvoided interflora as the reviews on the website looked pretty shoddy - flowers arriving all droopy and in small bunches..
Found another place which looks like a small boutique type florist and ordered from there. Had pretty nice reviews!
Also don't know why Innes thinks I should send a shit in the post. My question was, the purchase of flowers seems like a thoughtless gift to me because its such a cop out.
i like to think about what i buy someone and give them that and hope they like it. I am the sort of man that can buy clothes and bangles and random jewelry for my wife and she actually wears them in front of her friends because she likes them rather than having to keep the reciept and she takes them back to the shop the next day. I even get the size right (95% of the time) -

They're flowers, that's just not the way it works. It's not because careless husbands that tend to forget anniversaries end up buying petrol station forecourt flowers that flowers are a thoughtless cop out gift.

Randomly bringing home flowers is considered very thoughtful. You've gotten some because you were pretty much told to now. get some agian in 3 weeks or so and you'll see how it goes.

To the OP. My point was:
You dont see the point in flowers thinking they are some sort of 'cop out' but youve done mental gymnastics to reach this point rather than just accept the simple truth that its a nice gesture, and now youve fooled yourself into thinking that you dont need to give flowers and need to do some big ass grand gesture to prove you love your gf into this black hole reverse beta male persona which is well LAME.

Registered 8 years agoYeah the flowers won't really be appreciated now they've been asked for. Only way out of this for you is to get a super present to go with them that overshadows the flowers. Can't go wrong with crotchless knickers and a love egg. -

Registered 6 years agoI don't think the majority of chicks DO like flowers. If they did they'd buy more for themselves, more regularly, surely?
I think it's just become a kind of tradition/ritual based loosely on mankinds incessant hatred of all oxygen producing plantlife. Which prettymuchcovers all of it.
It's all about the thought, gesture indeed.
It's like a cheaper more transient version of jewellery I.e. needs to be seen by others to be truly appreciated by the shallow social status seeking harpie.
Relationship test : surprise GF with random flowers at home VS surprise GF with flowers delivered to work where other chicks can arch their eyebrows.
If she gets more excited at the second option she is a shallow show boating empty vessel and the relationship should be terminated immediately.
All that said, they're alright aren't they, flowers?"Assimilate this!" cried Worf, firing a space bazooka at the Borg.

You never buy me flowers! Ever!
Option a: buy flowers
You only bought them because I told you to!
Option b: do not buy flowers
Divorce follows
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I'd go with the love egg idea. It may be your only hope of salvation. -
