Hopefully my in-carrier framerate issues were just a 1-off.

    Will defo try again.
It's not as good as it should be imo. Default tickets are too low and the game is over too quickly for my liking, especially the carrier section which seems to last all of about a minute and a half in most games I play.
Agreed. When the carrier opens I find I am usually in the middle of nowhere and charges are already set before I can join in the attack/defence so a lot of game time is lost.

    Death by 2 glitches earlier.
First one was the dead body glitch I.e. someone behind a corpse was untouchable.
Second one was on Rush on Shanghai, first set of objectives. I was in a doorway shooting an enemy across the car park when I exploded! Killcam showed there was a tank right in front of me which hadn't even been drawn!!!
Anyone else seen 'graphical lag' as bad as that?

Morning fellas - what's the best assault rifle and carbine nowadays for the more close quarters (mid to short range) combat?

Haven't been playing as of late, nor have I kept up to date My go-to guns were the L85 and the good ol' AK-5C.

At mostly short range I use an ACW-R with a compensator, laser sight, 4x scope and an angled grip, but only when I'm running support otherwise I go through ammo far to quickly since it belongs firmly in the aim in vague direction of enemy and fire school of aiming thanks to it's 880 fire rate.

The other option at extreme short range is the 93r on burst fire mode since without a doubt you can get the most bullets down range in the shortest time with it.

Otherwise at short range I tend to side with the AK5C at short range simply because it's good enough at short range to win but it's stable enough on full auto to still be used at medium range.

Long range is still the preserve of DMR's up to about 300m with that said a bolt action with a 4x scope and canted iron sights is surprisingly effective even at short range if you know what your doing mainly because you have no scope flare so at about 300m or below it becomes easy to snipe other snipers without making your position obvious.

Chaps - if I were to pick this up for the PS4 (first time playing it), what kind of sizes would I be looking at in terms of patches?

My connection is fine for playing online, but I have a pathetic download allowance.

    @CompetitiveDad

In BC2 they stealth-installed all the DLC with the patches, so I'd say Syrette's right.

Might just borrow it off a mate and see how I get on with it.

    Cheers anyway, chaps! :)

I'd imagine there's a good mix of more casual and hardcore players here, but what do you all make of this aim assist video I made? Looks a bit too strong to me I have to admit, anybody else have an issue with this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb5rp_5YDQQ

AK5C is a solid all-round choice, great gun. The ACW-R is a monster up close but you need to tap fire at mid range or you're just wasting bullets. The MTAR-21 is similar, but has an even faster fire rate. It's great for hip firing but unless you're playing support it's really easy to run out of ammo for it.

Hey guys, I have just applied for the platoon and wondered if anyone fancied a game sometime soon? Would be nice to play with teammates who actually know how to PTFO.

Also, what are your favourite weapons from each weapon class? Here's mine:

Assault Rifle: L85A2 w Muzzle Break, Angled Grip and Chinese RDS.
Carbine: MTAR-21 w Flash Hider, Angled Grip and Russian RDS.
Shotgun: Spas-12 w Full Choke, RDS (Any) and Ergo Grip.
PDW: PP2000 w Muzzle Break, Angled Grip and RDS (Any).
LMG: MG4 w Long Barrel, Angled Grip and Chinese RDS.
Sniper Rifle: SRR-61 w Flash Hider, 8x,14x Magnification and Straight-Bolt.
DMR: SCAR-H SV w Long Barrel, Acog/Iron Sights and Angled Grip.
Pistol: MP443 w Long Barrel and Ghost Ring.

    Cheers.

Weapon choices I find comes down to map selection. Usually favouring a faster gun with hip fire if it a closer quarters map. I am rocking:-

Assault - AK12, with SAR-21 for longer range.
    Engineer - UMP-45, with MP7 for speed/closer range.
Support - AWS for all round and the Type 88 for bipod bullet hose.
Recon - Alternating the GOL Magnum and CRS-4 due to lack of scopes.

Also, use this site to compare guns, very handy site - http://symthic.com/bf4-stats

    And finally a plug for my own BF4 clips/playlist - motti's multikills

I mostly play support because it's fucking irritating running out of ammo all the time.

Long range: SKS w/ angled, heavy barrel, 4x scope and canted irons.
Mid-close range: AK5C w/ suppressor or HB, ergo or angled, thermal, canted irons OR AWS with suppressor, stubby, IRNV, laser.
Touchy-feely range: MTAR-21 w/ suppressor, ergo, thermal, canted irons.

For Recon I like the SRR-61 with muzzle break, straight pull, 4 or 3.4x scope and canted irons. No scope glint on 4x or below scopes so you're not standing lit up like a fucking lighthouse, but still capable of headshots at long range if you're steady and the irons are useful at close range.

On assault I really like the AEK-971 w/ angled, HB, Kobra and laser. It's a bullet hose.

Haven't really delved into shotguns or PDWs yet. For pistols I've been using the compact 45 a lot, but the starter P226 is really good. Magnum with a 3x scope can be fun, induces much rage.

This weekends double XP weekend was very fruitful for me indeed.

I was raking in around 14-15,000 points per round with the boost. Also, if you want to get your K/D up, the game to play is Domination, flank around the edges of the map and you will easily get 10 kills to every 1 death. That's the first time I've ever gotten a 10 kill streak in BF4 too, I'm usually play the objective so die a lot!

Also, the little bird with the 25mm cannons on hardcore? Mama Mia! The kills!

I'll be back on the PC version tonight if anyone's up for it? Furthering the platoons cause and all that

P.S They should have called Naval Strike 'Get a Jet Strike' - If you get in a boat or are on the ground you're fucked. No Mobile AA, Stingers are useless as everything flies high and out of range cause the maps are so flat, all the boats even the hovercraft can be locked onto and killed pretty much with one rocket.

And! If you don't get in a boat swimming for 100 meters to the next island means certain death as snipers pick you off in the water.

    SHITE.

Where carrier assault falls very short for me is the lack of vehicles at each of the flags. Once a carrier is breached if you are in play you are stranded and rendered useless to your team. If you take a flag to try and even the playing field and open the enemy carrier again you are useless. You get penalised for ptfo.

Rental servers always seem a bit of con to me. It claims you run the server on your terms but your hands are quite strongly tied as to what you can actually alter. I'm referring to BF3 really but assume the same will apply here.

UPDATE 4/29: We have identified rental-time issues with the Rent-a-Server Program release on Xbox One and have temporarily removed the feature as we investigate. The servers which were already rented will still be available for play, but admins may not be able to access all the management features at this time. As soon as a fix is in place we will announce its availability.
