    Oh wait...

    No Nexus 7.2 then.
Did that Google event happen already? I did not notice anything.
So they might actually abandon the Nexus 7 completely...
That was a developer event, not really aimed at consumers. However, there is a new rumour about a white Nexus 4 and JB 4.3 being made available around the 10th of June so I wouldn't rule out a Nexus 7 refresh just yet.

FWIW, the new beta of Maps is very nice, although a bit slow.

The Google Maps demo made me drop my jaw a couple of times. Talk about going thermo nuclear.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Can anyone recommend a good controller for the nexus 7. Around the 20.00 mark. Playing Max Payne GTA etc, is a pain with touchscreen controls.

Anyone's nexus 4 playing up? Mine has some odd behaviour lately.

@J.C If you don't mind wires, a PS3 controller does a good job.

Finding it a massive disappointment for gaming (I know it isn't a dedicated gaming device).

Anything that isn't simple touch controls is a no go for me. Gave up on Jet Set Radio, Modern Combat 4. I would get some emulators but 80% of the games would likely be unplayable with touch screen controls.

My nexus 7 would have to be rooted though right? I don't want to mess about with it. I just want a Bluetooth controller that I can set up fairly easily.

@Razz mines OK. I occasionally have to switch my phone off and on again when I've recharged it otherwise my phone connection goes. What problems you been having?

@J.C You'd need it rooted for wireless, wired with a usb otg cable is fine though.

I only have one issue of note and that's related to the proximity sensor/screen off combo when on a call. Basically its random as fuck and doesn't do anything right. It royally pisses me off when it decides to go off on one.

Question for owners of both a Nexus 4 and Nexus 7: how does the performance compare? I've had a 4 for a few months now and have just been given a 7 as a gift. I must say even though I've had it much longer and have therefore chucked much more on it, the 4 is much quicker and more responsive - the 7 gets bogged down quite easily when I swap between apps etc. Also Chrome seems a bit laggier.

Both on stock JB, latest version.

I love both of them but my Nexus 4 is noticeably faster and has a nicer 'feel' to it. I'm glad it's not just me then!

My nexus 7 has been hit with the battery eating bug and it will drain it in a day without use it was also causing laggy performance in everything on it. Having a hunt around on the running app list in settings, I switched it to cached apps and it appears in my case that google music wasn't shutting down properly and when I forced that cached process to stop it fixed my lag and battery issues.

Cool. I don't really mind since the 4 is the one I paid for! Just makes me realise how impressive a phone it is, especially at the price.

Question about buying media form the Play Store. If I buy a film/song do I get the file which I can transfer across devices, or some proprietary/cloud bollocks?

I believe if you download a film or a song, it works in much the same way as iTunes in that as long as you use the same account and credit/debit card details, it'll work on other Android devices.

... think it uses some cloud mumbo-jumbo to 'remember' the film or song.

Anyways, what is the hold up on the new Nexus tablet(s) Google?

If anyone is having lag issues with their nexus 7, there is an app on the store called LagFix. No idea how it works but it seems to do the trick. Was having horrific lag with mine.
    Requires root though

Ok scary thing with my Nexus 7!!

Was browsing the internet (eg in fact), closed the case to go do something. 30 mins later opened it, now all i see is a black screen with static on it, looks like occasional white streaks.

I can't get it to reset or anything - ive tried plugging in the charger, connecting it to my PC - nothing but a static screen!

    Any ideas?

@ZuluHero Have you tried holding down the power button and volume down at the same time? That should bring up a screen that allows a hard reset, amongst other options. Use the volume button to scroll through options - worth a try.

He will lose everything after a hard reset though, IIRC.
Anyway wanted to ask, anyone know how much truth in this recent rumour about a newer Nexus 7 this month?

The recent sales seem to confirm it, but I'm keeping an eye on http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/?search=nexus&searchheadlines=1

    Re hard reset

Does the toolkit not have a backup and restore option?

Posted from my Nexus 4, not using Tapatalk 4.

I owned two Nexuses 7 and both froze on me when upgrading to a newer version of Android. Was swearing like a madman, lost progress in games etc.
Will probably wait and see what's better for me: either this new Nexus 7 2 (duh) or iPad Mini with retina (hopefully).

Thanks for all the advice guys, but a hard reset didn't work - completely knackered.

After scouring the internet all night i found out its a common problem, the battery connector inside the device comes loose. A sharp tap to the bottom left of the device basically fixes it - which it did, but im not happy with it.

Apparently the best way to fix it is to pull the back off and make sure the connector is attached properly.

Its only 3 months old, so i reset it to factory and took it back for an exchange. The store didn't have any in stock, but they gave me a full refund.

Looks like im either buying a new nexus, or something else.

If there's a new nexus as rumoured though, i might hold on .
