    Yep, mine does that as well. Doesn't really bother me that much, but would like to know if there's a way of stopping it.
    Settings > Display > Brightness. Uncheck "Automatic brightness"

    That was the first thing I went to when I had it and it didn't cure it.

    Went out to a free wifi hotspot, again no joy. Called Google, friendly American chap couldn't help me. John Lewis sending me out a new one for Tuesday.

    I'm so relieved I didn't buy this thing from somewhere like Curry's.

    I updated my nexus 7 to 4.2.2 it's nothing that interesting to be honest it's tweaked a few things on the quick settings window and it appears to of made the menu transitions a bit smoother but that's about it.

    Well I went ahead and ordered a 16GB Nexus 4 (even though I already have a Nexus 7). I needed a new phone anyway and this seemed like a great price for what you get, actually saving me money than if I just upgraded my phone through T-Mobile.

    Just have to wait between one and two weeks now according to the website :(

    My Galaxy Nexus phone got the 4.2.2 update yesterday. Thankfully it fixed the dreadful wifi disconnection problems I'd been having with 4.2.1

    4.2.2 seems to have fixed my connection problems at work. When coming out of sleep I'd have to toggle WiFi off and on to reconnect to the network. So far this morning it seems to be staying connected OK.

    Right, I posted this in the Games & Apps thread but since it's Jellybean only I'll stick it in here as well:
    DashClock Widget is a very good lock screen widget that adds a bunch of notifications to the lockscreen clock. The bonus is that other apps can hook into it and display data. So now I can see how many unread posts I have in Press straight on the lock screen. More usefull is that i see my next meeting and alarm.

    Umm didn't the last update for android allow lock widgets like that? My nexus 7 already allows me to put things such as calender items, news feeds and so forth on my lock screen.

    Yes, but then it's one for each screen. Now you have it all on the first lock screen.

    plus moar in the future as it's open for devs of other apps to make their apps push notifications to it.

    I'll pop it on my Nexus 7 to have a look, but I only ever really have a data connection at home so it's hardly worth it :-(

    4.2.2 has introduced a nicer graphical overlay when you crop images.

    I'm so glad there was something I could notice.

    I'm pretty sure that the auto brightness thing is based off a sensor at the front, which if being used in certain conditions and ways can be affected by your finger placement or shadows created by your head/hands/whatever.

    Whenever it happens to me, seemingly at random, it is one of the above usually causing the fluctuations in screen brightness.

    Don't overlook the best feature of 4.2.2. Something I was genuinely looking forward to after being pissed off at its absence:

    You can now toggle wifi and bluetooth on and off from the quick settings menu with a long press.

    Nexus 4 question. When I set up the phone, I put in my gmail address as the account to use. The phone now has both an email app and a gmail app.
    When i get a mail, both of them ping me a notification. I want to disable the mail app and just use the gmail app but I can't find how to do it.

    I'm an SG2 user Sal, so tread carefully with my advice. I use both the email (work) and gmail (personal) apps. Have you tried going into the email app, tapping menu then delete the account from there? I can do that on my SG2.

    Give yourself ½ gig or a £, you're worth it.

    After ANOTHER 3 failed attempts at doing the 4.2.2 update, I ended up having to re-flash the N7 with a stock ROM and trying again. It's now finally up to date. Just needs rooting again now which is all of a 5 min job.

    I'm pretty sure trying to update a custom rom with an official update isn't supported, nor should you expect it to work without problems.

    Yeah that. Use something like Voodoo Rootkeeper. Though I have it installed and forgot...

    Yeah but its the wrong way round. It should be a single press for toggle and a long press for the settings

    Yes, the 4.2.2 update only works on stock ROM.

    That's what threw me. I never knowingly installed a custom ROM and vaguely remember issues with the last update that forced a re-root using a method I'd not used before. Obviously that was the issue. Seems like my nephew is having the same problem.
