Interesting it's not for the iPad 1, but considering 5 didn't agree with it much (5.1.1 seems a bit better now), maybe it's not such a bad thing. It would have probably only worked worse.

What I can't understand is how Apple have a reputation for keeping secrets. Nothing in this presentation took me by surprise.

Oh, actually. The QRcode stuff was a bolt from a clear sky.

But for "the most secretive company in the world that was weak sauce"

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

    So am I...

Considering at current conversion rates my local Apple store is cheaper than the US one (when VAT is deducted, of course, but that's one of the reasons I run a company), this is a pretty sensible price for some retina goodness.

    The new MacBook Pro is 1,799 ... ! ! !

It is genuinely a great piece of kit, but I am an iPad kind of guy nowadays.

    ... : )

Yes, no more 17-inch MacBook Pro's now ... a bit of a shame!

For those who are wondering where I saw the price for the new MacBook Pro, it can be seen here:

    Here you go ... : )

The retina pro is a little out of my price range unfortunately :-(

To be honest though, I like the extra ports and optical drive on the normal ones.

So there is no longer a 17" macbook? pretty stupid decision if you ask me. I was waiting on buying a 17" till after the refresh and now they don't even do them! :/ :/

The non-retina MBPs come with a cleaning cloth. The retina ones don't. First thing I noticed.

    Thank you!

... and yes, 1,799 is rather quite dear unfortunately, unless you earn a couple of grand a month, unlike me!

I wouldn't mind 1799, but that's only the price it starts from. So it'll be over 2k once you put in a decent amount of flash HD space.

Is that the most negative thing you could think to say about it all? Heh! Weak sauce indeed.

It's absolute downs of them to only put hdmi in the top spec one. Typical apple trying to make a standard feature into a luxury add on.

What would be faster: the 1249 13" MBP or the 999 MBP with 8GB RAM and a 128GB SSD?

Maxing everything out, the retina Pro comes in at over 3k!

I'd love one, but they can fuck off! :)

hmm.. I suppose it has got 2x thunderbolt + hdmi.. So you could use the new MBP on a three screen setup? with a couple of display port to hdmi cables?

But you do get to hand over 30 for the dongle as a reward for being poor.

Thunderbolt is just a highspeed bus. But yes, that and more.
