The IGN review confirms what I feared - unnecessary use of the touch-screen and other gimmicky features. Apparently you have to "pinch" using both rear and front touch panels, urgh.

I still find it extremely bizarre that they've released this on the same day as III, surely it would have served perfectly as a stop-gap between the major instalments - would have sold a lot more Vitas that way.

I don't know, IGN gave Little Kings Story an dreadful review and I quite enjoyed it. Can't say this review has put me off at all.

I thought the touch screen stuff was optional?

This game is really really good , been playing for a about 4-5 hours and i can tell you this is as good as any console AC.

As for the the touch pinching ive only had to do this once to open a letter during a cut scene so don't have a clue what IGN are moaning about.

Graphics, story and combat are excellent , a far better game than Uncharted on vita , a truly believable open world setting for you to explore.

Truly excellent and very slick and huge achievement for a hand held console, cannot recommend this enough !

@Kay ive been playing for a while now and there is NO unnecessary use of touch screens at all , in fact its implemented superbly ie for pick pocketing and not used all that often in general , plus its optional.

Definitely still picking this up tomorrow, wont have time to play the PS3 version and have learnt to ignore reviews and judge for myself, Unit 13, Shinobido, Monkey Ball, New Little Kings Story have all picked up average review scores and I have loved all of them.

I think sometimes that Vita games have a weight of expectation on them. From what I've seen this looks great.

I swear it makes my heart glow any time someone mentions Shinobido 2. ;)

I am really looking forward to this. Nice to hear such positive comments about it.

Any idea where this slots in with the AC3 story? Before, after, concurrently...?

Sounds like me, my mothers coming to stay Thursday till monday, so tomorrow only chance I'll get to try it. Picked up the Sleeping Dogs DLC though, and also got Costume Quest, so won't be stuck otherwise.

I'd love them to release Costume Quest on the vita. It'd be a perfect fit.

Has there been a mention of how much this will be on the store today - in-store it seems to be £40 everywhere.

Really disappointed in the pricing for this, it'll likely bomb being £40 everywhere. I don't pay that for home console releases and I still expect handheld titles to be cheaper.

Really want to get this, but my brain won't let me pay over £30.

I grabbed it on Shopto for 32. Games tend to be a lot more expensive here in Switzerland anyway.

I'd love to see the Monkey Island special editions on the Vita, or any of Double Fine's stuff. Brutal Legend be good too, another game I liked that seemed to flop. Í'd even pick up Tales of Monkey Island. Broken Sword seems to be big on the tablets, can't be that hard to bring out for the Vita.

I totally agree, although I wonder why we think the AAA at least should be cheaper, just because we can play it on the move ?

I always had/have a pricepoint of £20 in my head for ds/psp (no matter the model). I also like the look of this and if it came bundled with the vita for £200* I would probably buy
I think/hope it will be this price point before xmas

IGN giving Ragnarok Odyssey an awful review as well, they seem to hate nearly all Vita games. here

In fact that IGN review shows they have no clue what they're talking about when you look at the 'play these instead' box:

    Unit 13 (!)
    Disgaea 3
    Rainbow Moon PS3 (!)
    Dead Nation PS3 (!)

Yeah, IGN's RO review seems to be quite significantly below the other ones that are out so far.

Edit: Actually, I think Metro gave the Asian version a mediocre review a while ago.

On price topic, I had AC3:L preordered for £30 (and will apparently be given 10% cashback at some point but I'll just consider that a bonus if it happens). I don't have a problem with paying the same for home console games as portable but I try to get the best deal I can on either. It would have to be a game I really wanted to pay £40 for a vanilla edition.

I read that Destructoid review on Destructoid, actually tempted to pick it up tomorrow now as a result. I'm kind different in that as a mainly PC Gamer I'd rarely pay 40 pounds for a proper game, but don't mind handheld as I tend to play them more. Ease of use. Can have it on when mrs watching telly.

I think it should cost less than say, Assassin's Creed 3, but more than the average handheld title.
