@Cogsy666 Hold off for the standalone, it shouldn't be too long more before it is released.Hackers have the game ruined, even on whitelisted servers.

I have heard that hackers have taken it over but didn't know they were even on the whitelisted servers may hold off for standalone after all. Thanks for the reply :)

Nah, don't wait until the standalone. Hackers are annoying but i still think its worth the trouble and you'll still have fun. If you're going to play ARMA aswell you're going to have a lot of fun.

Someone is getting me combined ops for my birthday as I wanted to play wasteland too, as dayz is free can always see what the hacker situation is for myself.

UK#10 is where I play. Can only think of one time when there have been hackers on there, and they were dealt with really fast. You need to post in the thread on the forums to get on the whitelist.

UK#10 is decent - got myself a M14 AIM and I'm currently near Nadezhdino, wandering about. Working my way up north to find secret stashes and maybe pinch a chopper :)

What does everyone think about "combat-logging" on this?

I know it's really frowned upon, but I admit I quite often do it - three bandits in full ghillie suits just opened up on me at a deer stand, I totally logged out before they could finish me off. Am I meant to feel bad about that?

Fancy a go but a bit confused by all the mods etc

@Carbon_Altered I'd go for installing and patching Arma 2 and OA, then http://www.dayzcommander.com/

I thought they patched this out? You fire or are attacked and there is a cool down period until you can quit.

    You dare to strike Scurrcules!?

You can't log out if you fire. People seem to think you can't log out if you take damage but that doesn't seem to be the case in my experience.

Yep, just had to quit because my character started dancing. Apparently the whitelist isn't working properly or something.

I know. I'm kinda of tempted to go on and see what happens - I'm stuck with a broken leg and no morphine near Pogorevka so I've not much to lose...

As I see it, the engine is totally open to hacking. One reason for the standalone taking so long, I imagine!

Whitelisting helps as you can control who gets in, but once you're in you can do what you want until an admin realises it's you who's hacking. I've been randomly teleported on UK#10 right back to the coast, though I did manage to get away. My M14 AIM character is dead anyway - broken leg incident!

I've just finished building a pc so I can give this a go. I've got the game installed and all all patched up using DayZCommander. The problem I'm having is that I keep getting the Battleye client not responding error and thrown out of the game (that's when I'm lucky enough to get into one).
I've tried a variety of possible fixes like reinstalling Battleye, updating the dll's to the latest etc. nothing seems to make any difference. Does anyone have any suggestions for sorting out this problem?
    Thanks

Could Peerblock or a firewall be stopping BattleEye from connecting to its server?

@GreasyWeasel When you enter a lobby do you see the Battleye updating message in the bottom left hand corner? For whatever reason it never updates when I'm on DayZ servers. I always have to go into a regular ARMA server lobby for the thing to update for me.

Dunno if you've tried this yet but there's an installer here aswell ftp://downloads.bistudio.com/arma2.c...EyeARMA2OA.exe

Thanks for the advice guys. I checked the firewall and even turned it off completely and it made no difference. I have the very latest .dll's in all the relevant places and the game states that it as initialized but I never got any further message telling me my GUID. It simple didn't seem to be speaking to the server at all. After a lot of searching and testing I have fixed this issue but configuring my ADSL modem to use LLC multiplexing rather than VC. As soon as I changed this setting it worked immediately.

I found the details here BIStudio Thread Link for anyone interested. This is much better than the 100's of youtube video of spotty kids telling me I just need to reinstall BattlEye for the millionth time!

Now I all I have to do is work out how to play! ;)

    Edited to fix link

Been playing a lot on Taviana recently. It's a pretty fun map. One smallish island with a couple of towns and an airstrip, connected to another much larger island with more of the same.

Action has been coming thick and fast too. If you're more in the shoot first think later mind set I would suggest checking it out if you haven't. Seems to encourage more action since there are very few safe havens, although that again comes down to the server popularity I guess.
