the Vodafone firmware includes 5 Vodafone apps, 2can be uninstalled, 3 can be disabled and take up 2 meg total after. The undeleteable bookmarks can be deleted by clearing Internet's Data in application manager, but make sure you back up the bookmarks first.

4.2 seems to use quite a lot of memory, my S2 tends to be quite low though that probably isn't helped by having quite a lot of background stuff going on.

The performance of my GS3 now is making me root my phone.

What ROMs are recommended for the GS3?

Would stock jelly bean be good enough?

    A riveting Friday night awaits!

I've tried Resurrection Remix and Cyanogen 10 both good but stuck with the first.

For anyone keeping score, I uninstalled a security program, somethingeye, that takes a photo of anyone who tries and fails to access your phone.

Its cool, works well but since its always running it seems to molest your battery.

    Its still not brilliant, though.

Cerberus seems like a great anti theft app for root users. It can raise an alarm, take a picture when the phone's unlocked, make your phone sound an alarm among other features

Took the plunge on one of these second hand on ebay, 295 all in, and its in great condition, small nick on the bottom left corner but nothing to worry about.

Got it rooted and running Android Revolution HD 16 with the perseus kernel, so far incredibly impressed with the battery life!

Nice to have a phone i can hold in one hand again.

Did you cancel your Nexus then?

Yeah cancelled it. Stories about rubbish battery life, and the phone being a bit fragile. Plus lack of SD card and removable battery, and no apt-x.

if it was 500 for the samsung and 290 for the nexus that would be a different story, but second hand it was a no brainer.

plus getting 220 for my note! which reminds me, must ship it off today.

I've noticed that my screen is flickering!

I've jail breaked the phone but I haven't updated with a ROM yet.

    Does anyone have this issue?

    Come and get it cumslingers!

Sync your contacts with your google account and then sign in on the gs3?

Thinking of buying one of these (Amazon 400, I think, off contract)
My main 2 things I want are the camera and MP3 side of things for my vast cd collection. I use the phone side of thing very rarely, but need it in case the wife/kids need to get me.

Thoughts please lads, I know the world and his wife rates these phones over almost everything else, but I like reading your thoughts.

If you have lots of itunes music or have ripped your cds to AAC, get ready for hilarity because the galaxy doesnt support that format. If everythings in MP3, youre fine.

The camera is pretty good too. It doesnt cope well with motion and its shit in low light but if everything is stood perfectly still in the middle of the day, it takes a good snap. The panorma stitcher is decent too.

As far as the phone goes, if I had my choice again, i would pay a bit extra to get the iPhone 5 as I have grown to hate android, but thats a personal preference.

Erm, the S3 does support AAC. I know this because I have plenty of AAC files in my collection that play perfectly fine on the S3.

Music is the main reason I bought the phone, actually, thanks to the SD card support, and it hasn't let me down.

Must just be M4A then. I swear mine doesnt play AAC but it might just have been me going mental.

mainly use it for reading news, camera and spotify. the camera is nice and zippy, havent noticed the quality being great or rubbish, its just a camera.

its very slippery though, needs a case

Yeah, don't think my S2 plays m4a. Do they not have apps for these kinds of problems, I thought that was half the point of Android?!

Or rather, I should say Goole Play didn't seem to like them. Assume PowerAmp will play them, but I've only got a handful, don't even know which albums they are
