Basically a review of any supermarket food you may have eaten. I love cooking and food is important to me but I'm not one of these food snobs that believes that all supermarket convenience food is bad or feels that I need to make every single thing from scratch - I dont make my own bread, jams, chess, pasta, and sometimes buy ready made pastry.

It's difficult though to know what's good amid so much that's sub par quality. So review your supermarket foods here - delicious gems or the foul muck you wouldn't feed your dog. I'm thinking actual products rather than ingredients. Please note price and score out of 10

    Lidel delux pate - 3.99
I was part scared and part excited ( since it's lidel and their record for tasty food, for me, isn't good ) to try this set of six exotic pates. They come in nice looking 90g jars and sound very promising with flavours such as venison with cognac but I was really disappointed.the pate lacks flavour and is filled with large lumps of gristle making it very unpleasant. The texture felt wrong to me too.i would avoid these.

    3/10

    Waitrose Lighter Davidstow Cheese : 8 / 10

Easily the nicest low(er) fat cheese that I've tried, and I've tried a lot. Melts really well and has a slightly crumbly texture with a good strong flavour.

Lidl frozen paella is cheap and cheerful, and apparently contains real saffron. I'm no expert in paella, but it tastes okay to me. 8/10

Asda 'chosen by poo' lamb pies topped with breadcrumbs taste like they're really bad for you, and are pretty expensive for what you get. 9/10 if cost/health concerns can be ignored.

Pretty much all the choccies you can get in lidl are decent knock-offs of well-known brands. You just have to guess what product they emulate, as the photo on the packet often looks nothing like the contents, which do in fact look rather like the real thing. 10/10

A lot aren't even knock offs, just well known brands on the continent.

The choclates and sweets in both Lidl and Aldi are pretty much all great and dirt cheap to boot.

The Lidl "Inferno" pizza they stock occasionally will make you wish you were dead both on the way in and the way out.

I'll have to take your word for that, but clearly a lot of them are copying the design of well-known Nestle or Mars products. I'd call that a knock-off, no matter how well known you are.

That is frankly a scandalous statement which must be verified, where might one purchase these?

Lid choc is 10/10 every time.

As for other food, waitroise ravioli is varied, reasonable at a pinch and delicious. Short of making it or going to a decent, non-shit Italian restaurant, pretty good.

    8.4

Just to counteract the 8's and 9's in here: Asda Chilli Peanuts - Not nearly spicy enough: 2/10.

I refuse to eat M&S food since they stopped selling chicken & stuffing mini pork-style-pies in the 90s. The cads!
