    The points system has always just been a giant money spinner offering no benefit to the customer and sucking them as dry as possible.

    Makes you spend more than you need to, and leaves you with left over 'currency' that sits in MS's bank and ticks up the interest. I'm sure they are sitting on millions of spare 'points' that people can't spend.

    Whilst I can buy points at a reduced price (360 downloadable games are always a couple of quid cheaper than PS3 ones), you can take them out of my cold dead hands.

    Most places that sell discounted points sell discounted PSN cards as well.

    but you still have the £8 game on PSN / £6.80 game on Xbox issue?

    In general terms, both consoles are virtually identical anyway, so I've never seen the point in having both unless you have absurd amounts of gaming time.

    I'd love to play Uncharted / LBP / Journey, but can't justify spending £200 to do it, and had I picked up a PS3 instead of an Xbox, I certainly wouldnt have spent £200 on picking one up just to play Gears / Shadow Complex / Trials either.

    Oh you would if you saw how pitifully stocked the PSN games store is. Also.. no community games, I really miss them.

    Over here in the Netherlands a 2100 msp card costs 25 euro in shops (no competition, no discounts, same price everywhere, just msrp), the 4200 msp one 50 euro (why would you make/buy a 4200 one if you could just get on with 2x2100 if it costs the same? Why not give a little discount as stimulation of spending some more real money on your commitment/loyalty of buying big amount of points in one go? anyways..)

    If i get my points online (so i dont have to go outdoors buy them in store, go home, unwrap all the unnessesary packaging stuff, manually enter long code)i get them in my email account as line of text which i can copy/past straight into xbox.com account.

    The price i pay for 2100 msp: bit less then 20 euro (saved 5 euro minimum)

    The price i pay for 4200 msp: 38 euro (saved 12 euro)

    This way an 800 msp game doenst cost me 10 euro but only 8, a 1200 msp game not 15 euro but only 12.

    It's also easier to calculate with 100 msp = 1 euro with this.
    (the official price for msp is 80 msp = 1 euro)

    When buying 4200 msp i pay 38 euro, so to keep 100 msp = 1 euro thought, i get bonus 2 euro + 200 msp (= 400 msp).
    This i used to spend on virtual avatar stuff/fluff/shit, because it was just 'free' bonus points i got gifted on top of nice price online deal.

    Prefer pointssystem (20%discount/easy calculating/ease of use)

    No-where near as discounted. The maths have been done over and over, it's a meaningful amount cheaper to buy games via points on the 360 than it is via credit on the PS3.

    It's one of the reasons my 360 DD catalogue is so much bigger.

    it also works for Games on Demand on Marketplace: press blue X button and you get msp prices:

    30 euro GOD = only 2560 msp (Mafia II, Tales of Vesperia, Halo Reach)
    20 euro GOD = only 1680 msp (Rock Band 3, Vanquish, Bayonetta)

    (disclaimer: this is Dutch situation, where prices are based on euro, i believe in UK its bit different when calculating back from pound price GOD to msp, but still cheaper results you get)

    but you would only miss out on half those titles if you 'only' got one console this gen, not all of them.

    And what you dont know you cant miss. I cant get Uncharted and God of War, so be it, i dont care, am probably dirty fanboy anyway:), i dont feel attracted (enough?)to invest money into the means to be able to play them.
    Happy with simplicity of one console that does things very well. Dont have enough time and energy for all the games i wanna play on my only console right now (huge backlog).

    Maybe that says something for this one console: that you dont have to feel like you 'miss out' on the good stuff if you dont have another console.

    that's pretty much my situation too.

    I've something like 15 unopened 360 games, and simply don't have time / money / inclination to add Heavy Rain etc. to the backlog pile.

    The Wii has been by far the best console this gen for exclusives anyway.

    Did you like to spend most of your time on the console on the dashboard or something?

    To each their own and everything, but I find that to be pretty absurd reasoning to abandon a console.
