    Oh my the second layout for the Zoltan ship is lovely, two ion blasters and a pike beam, knock their systems down then slice them up! :-)

    Yeh I upgraded my doors once, but when the boarders walk to it they just open, leaving my plan to starve them of oxygen near impossible.

    I just avoid Mantis space, they are tough gits and always board. A pair of them can cause some real mayhem especially when you have missles knocking off systems.

    If you see a Glaive beam anywhere, snap it up. Angle and time it just so and you get an easy 8 damage per shot.

    Yeah no kidding. Earlier today I was building up a really good cloaking Rock ship with fire bombs, until I got boarded by 4 Mantis buggers. No airlock doors on the Rock ship I was using meant I had to fight them. I had 6 crew...who were all promptly butchered. :(

    They definately need to require the teleporter to be charged up or something before use to give time to attempt to knock it offline.

    And another night playing this game for too long. I unlocked the Zoltan cruise so that needed to go for a spin. It's a nice ship but made a few bad decisions resulting in a early dead.

    Woo, my first victory :)

    Score of 3336 with the Kestrel on Easy. The fast firing Ion Cannon with two triple shot lasers is devastating. Focus the Ion on the shields and let the lasers rip ships to pieces, with no need to worry about running out of missiles.

    Echoing Whizzos comment, if you can get the Weapon Pre-Igniter, you can then take out the transporter with a missile before they can even use it.

    Apart from ship unlocks, do you get any persistent weapon unlocks, or do you always start with a "vanilla" ship?

    I'm nowhere near completing this, even on Easy!

    Nothing carries over between games other than ship unlocks and your stats.

    Had such a great ship and crew on the go last night and then I accidentally let the fleet catch up with me. Boarders, fires, weapons knocked out, door controls off-line... it was horrible. :(

    It was edge-of-the-seat stuff, for sure. I was so close to being able to jump away and then the spreading fire took my engines offline and I was done.

    I think they said it went into more/better music from an outside composer, more/better writing for the missions and extra artwork for more ships and races.

    It would've been nice if they'd concentrated on more varied encounters instead of so many different ships. I'm getting really sick of six legged horses.

    This is a great game, but I'm seriously rubbish at it! I never seem to be able to survive long enough to upgrade weapons etc.

    Well i got the the boss and thought i was doing so well, with a well upgraded starter ship. Im sure anyone who has blown it up can understand my frustration at a certain point.

    I got to sector 6 with barely a scratch using two combat drones and the ion canon on the Engi ship. Beefy shields and a bunch of upgrades, I was sure I could have at least done a bit of meaningful damage to the boss. Ran out of drones mid battle without a store in sight. Just opened the doors and let everyone off, I couldn't have harmed a space wasp. So annoying.

    I find upgrading the engines to max and having a fully maxed pilot for dodging is more effective than fully upgraded shields.
