Spelunky is the only Vita game I've actually bought this year, I think.

Yeah, I hate it too. Die! Over and over again!

    Um, no.

EDIT: I get why people like it. I just don't find that sort of game entertaining. I want a journey, a story, something to actually do. Things like this and Super Meat Boy are just lost on me.

It's a great game. Although it is likely coming to Plus so you may as well wait - surprised there's so many who have not already picked it up though.

Given what you spend on the Vita I'm surprised you're quibbling over a couple of quid?

To be honest, 6.99 is the very most I'd pay with the ideal price being a fiver or less, since I don't think it's going to be something I'll play for hours I can't justify 9 on it when so much is due out before Christmas.
    On the Vita?

I had a look on the Release Dates page the other day and the Vita release schedule for Q4 seemed like a very barren land.

    Same for me with Spelunky.

I wanted to like it, I tried to get into it, but I just don't like anything about it - the look, the feel, the level design, nothing.

Yep - the release dates are empty as the indie titles seem to have constantly shifting release dates as they aren't committed to production and so on but there are loads due. Find a list for what is confirmed to be coming to Vita and there's no end with '2013' as the date.

I think in December we are going to be absolutely swamped - I reckon everyone is holding off to launch with a PS4 version at the same time.

I like it but it's just too hard for my tastes. And I've completed both Dark Souls AND Demon's Souls.

I feel slightly annoyed by how easy the first world is (and makes you think that the difficulty scale is manageable) which convinced me to buy it after completing the trial, but then i've not been able to make any progress whatsoever. I've been eternally stuck in world 2. I once made it to 2-4. That was a good day. Never managed it again. Its a nice game and I like the visuals and the game play - but i just wish i waited for a sale, and not paid 10 for it.

Heh, I should put this in the "There, I said it" thread ;)

Spelunky's second world is a pain in the pooper but if you can get past it things get a little easier afterwards.

I like the game, it reminds me of Rick Dangerous.

Regarding Spelunky, it's just a very particular type of game. I think it's probably well deserving of its accolades in its field.

AS jonsaan said, it appeals to a certain generation of gamer. As a huge 8/16-bit platformer fan, it tickled all the right nostalgic glands for me. I guess you need the muscle memory for that sort of thing to enjoy it.

Spelunky is probably my favorite game this year, I spent many a hour sucking and dying unfortunate deaths. After about 80 hours though I'm proud to say I suck a little bit less than I did.
It's really good played over lan with a Ps3 too, not having to share a screen really improves multiplayer.
It seems to be a bit of a marmite game though.

Spelunky is great. One day I'll go back to it and get that damned key!

Just finished episode 3 of the Walking Dead and it really is a great game, highly recommended to anyone yet to play the series. The stutters/sync problems are no worse than on PS3, which I have seen loads of people complaining about and haven't affected my enjoyment really - of course it would be nice to not have them but until the game's ported to PS4 we are unlikely to have an option play without them.

I just read a review of Castlestorm, which sounds pretty great. Is anyone planning on picking it up on Wednesday? Looks like there will be a demo too.

TWD is an excellent game (a solid 9/10 for me), which I may well snap up on the Vita if it's in a sale sometime.

The PS3 version (the one I played) did have some technical issues, but they certainly didn't detract from the game itself.

Playing through TWD for a second time on Vita. On Episode 1, got to the farm in the first chapter and chose to leave Duck, he still lived and Shawn died. Guessed that the game would find a way to force you down a route but later at the chemist when you have to choose between Doug and Carly, I went with Doug this time and he is still around in chapter 3.

Nothing game changing but it is nice to see some different dialogue options and have a bit of a different experience. Hopefully it will have some effect on season 2 as well.

@Kangoo - my thoughts exactly. It seems to only really be the final chapter where you lose the superfluous characters, although the game does well not to make these points obvious until after you've finished the game.

    High five!

Spelunky and Knytt Underground just reminded me of how pissed off I used to get with platformers back in the day. Mario? For chumps! I've never played a Mario game in my life, because by the time it came around I was a veteran of Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy and Dizzy. I was done with them.

Me neither. Felt kind of incomplete to me if that makes sense. Think I got to world 2 (you're a bouncing ball?) and gave up.

ps I think Spelunky is a nigh on perfect game.

Knytt Underground gets going in chapter 3. Then it's all about the exploration of the world and ending up with a map the size of the Vita screen.

I enjoyed it but some of the (trophy) puzzles just baffled me.

I didn't like Spelunky from the demo, but I took a leap of faith and bought it anyway. Totally clicked after about 5 hours then I loved it. It does have a journey, but it's gameplay based, not narrative. It is definitely not Rick Dangerous.

Also I wouldn't class Manic Miner/Dizzy as the same type of game as Mario or Super Meat Boy at all, so if that's your experience of platformers I'd recommend giving them another go. Meatboy wouldn't be a good place to start though :/. Maybe NSMB?

Wish gaming had a better lexicon as it's hard to justify anything I just said.
