I need to knock up a couple of pages each for three or four games design ideas. Just a preliminary pitch. Does anyone know of a decent article about what they should look like? A few stabs at google didn't bring up anything really useful.

    Ta!

Gama will almost certainly have plenty to say on the topic, although I really only use it for 'already prototyped' articles.

Cheers Verm, I knew I could rely on you!

I'll have a look at gamasutra. I did have a brief look, but I couldn't find anything for a pitch, only a full design. Anyway, ta guys.

Do games companies ever accept pitches from regular folk and the like for games?

No, they actively send them back unread to prevent someone from bringing a lawsuit later when they produce a similar game.

But Blanko is not a regular person. He's a gaming superhero! (allegedly)

Depends though. If that regular person starts his own company and pitches a game, they'll either accept or turn down the pitch... A pitch implies you get the meeting in the first place?

Whether or not you even get a pitch depends on how you look as a company, how good your existing work is. I doubt they'd let a monkey off the street waltz in and start talking about a big franchise game that they want to work on - but if they've got history of churning out class and the ideas are good then they're in. Or something.

*edit* To expand - everyone has good ideas for games. The companies don't really give a toss about that - they want to know if you can make a product. If you can then chances are you're not a "regular person" anyway but a game programmer or something :)

I think our facial animation system still needs some work.

Hopefully the rewritten renderer and particle system will also help the visuals (as would a bit more content in the screenshot).
