Though I feel the 'English Father, Native Mother, siding with the Yanks' angle is a vague attempt to please all sides, even given that it'll be mostly a backdrop to Templar/Assassins shenanigans.

Yeah sounds cool, and as I suspected it looks like some excellent big battles are gonna be thrown in somehow.

"Uses a new version of the Anvil engine that can "depict thousands of troops engaged in bloody battle"
I don't think we'll be within those battles, though.

I dunno rounds, if your read on

"Connor is in the heart of major battles, and they can now have a couple thousand guys on screen, whereas before it was capped at about 100"

Sounds like you'll be in the thick of it at some point.

Well, who knows. They had better revamp the combat system a LOT then, because no way I'm fighting a thousand guys with the current mess.

Lots of new animation and new fighting system. If they get fighting wrong again then it's ultimate fail from Ubisoft.

Well it does say there is a new combat system is in 3. Focused on "putting you on the offensive and based on speed/momentum" whatever that means!

It sounds like you'll be killing everyone to me... well, except Native Americans (but maybe them too!).

Yep - it's one of the things that I'm most excited about. I don't know what it's supposed to mean either, but as long as it means "different," I'm interested!

There was Native on Native things happening in the Revolution, mostly when some sided with the Brits and some sided with the Yanks (though some were at each others throats anyway). They'd just have to tread very carefully on how they represent it.

Awful, shameless shit. 'Patriot much?' someone in this thread asked. Oh yes.

I hope this game does represent a bit of a series reboot, after the fan-gouging of AC:Rev, but it probably isn't.

Like the look of that. I love the AC games and this already sounds/looks a winner to me.

Looked awesome. So glad it's a change of scenery and the old team back with more than a year to churn it out. Enjoyed them all but Revelations is really pushing it.

I spent ages saying "I'm sick of playing as Ezio". Now that I've seen the new guy, I want Ezio back

There's an interview up on the Playstation Blog here.

    Some bits I found interesting:
    - 'His given Native American name is very hard to pronounce, it’s Ratohnhaké:ton.'
    - 'we’ve hired a Native American consultant to make sure we’re handling things appropriately, and the actor who voices Connor is Native American as well.'
    - 'The narrative of the game is “Assassins versus Templars,” it’s not about you saving the American Revolution.'
    - 'We wanted him to feel more like a predator, so all of his combat is two-handed whether it’s tomahawk and knife, or hidden blade and knife.'
    - 'In Assassin’s Creed III, if you hold R1 you’ll free run safely.'

Thanks for link, t'was a good read. I'm loving the fact Connor can duel wield combinations of weapons. I'm reading the Ezio trilogy of novels at the minute and the author mentions Ezio duel wielding a lot of the time… made me lust for it in the game so I'm glad Connor can now do it.

    @Bremenacht

It's the Sands of time, AC II team who are making it. Brotherhood and Revelations were made by the B team basically.

The 'B' team did a great job with Brotherhood, but as I understand it, a mediocre one with Revelations which I'm yet to play. Excited about the main team getting back involved though, ACII is a masterpiece if you ask me.

Decent in-depth interview from E3 which I've just come across.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/interviews/a385152/assassins-creed-3-e3-2012-interview-ubisoft-on-revolutionary-sequel.html

Talks about the combat being dynamic (difficult to master, easy to "stumble through 90% of fights), the new use of interiors, Desmond, why they went for the setting etc.
