Twice in two days. Maybe the Mayans were right and were all trapped in limbo...

Mrs Boo bought me the Lego Technic Supercar for Christmas, and I thought I'd like to have a go at doing a stop motion animation thing of the build.
Not having put any Lego together for nigh on three decades, and never having done any animation, I thought I'd start small, so bought a palm-sized Lego Technic pickup truck.

It's tiny, I thought. It's only got about 120 parts, I thought. I'll have that put together in about 10 minutes.
    I thought.

    Took bloody ages!

Didn't help that I missed a part out and had to go back about 12 steps to fix it.

Also learned that making a decent stop motion video isn't as easy as just taking a lot of photos.

The Supercar and the Unimog may be more of a challenge than I thought...

I've just negotiated an £80 deal for an albeit used, original LEGO Batcave. Aka LEGO 7783 with box and manual. Brand new unopened on EBay for £500 and used on EBay for £350.

    I'm very happy.

    Good deal dude.

I've been giving some serious thought into getting into Lego investing. At the very least, buying enough to turn enough of a profit to pay for the sets I keep. Although I can easily see how that would snowball out of control.

At the very least I keep all the packaging for the sets I do build, even if I know I'd never sell something I only have the one of.

I think it's taken directly from the first video game. But now that mention it...

Most of the YouTube reviewers do this. Buy two sets of licensed stuff at retail, wait a year or 18 months, sell it for 3 times the value. For example, the Lego.com-only Arkham Asylum is currently around £130. Sell that summer 2014 and you'll get at least twice that amount.

Does that include the minifigs? That's a bloody good deal if so.

    It's here: http://www.dba.dk/andet-lego-batman-lego-h/id-88516138/

The Danish text basically says: Lego Batcave for sale. Batmobile also. Everything included. Maulals and original box.

My Danish is non-existent :) That does appear like the Gumtree Lego scams, where they offer sought after sets for 'too good to be true' prices. Those scammers are pretty lazy though, a quick check of Ebay completed listings and you'll find where they nicked their photos.

Hope you get lucky though, that's a crazy deal with the figs :)

Aww I hope you dont get scammed. My friend got scammed on eBay once, and lost loads of money, it makes me so angry!

I can vouch for the translation. Seems as if morris has made a real bargain.

As for LEGO investing I can't help but feel that it's scalping

I noticed that they've pulled the level three kit of the MBA from the store. I guess they'll repackage it and launch the stand alone version, so to speak.

Which in turn means that level four is just around the corner. Exiting!

Oh, and for the record, I'm buying the set because I really want it. The fact that its worth loads is a bonus. I'm not selling.

However, if I am hard up one day, I know I've got a profit sitting there.

Anybody tried the Lego Mindstorms stuff? Looks pretty expensive, and I wondered what sort of lifespan it had, i.e. could you exhaust all the possibilities of the language within a couple of months?

Good news for us builders, nearly 900 new elements being introduced this year (lots of them being existing parts in new colours though): http://www.brickset.com/parts/browse/years/?year=2013

    \o/

I've just made my first stop-motion Lego build video. It's a bit ropey, but ok for a first attempt. Going to add some titles and whack it up on Youtube, with the other 14 million stop-motion Lego builds.

So, never having a missing piece before, what is the procedure to getting a replacement? I managed to find a piece that fits but it is bugging me that it's the wrong colour.

I got bought one of these today which looks fun to build:

No probs. If it's 10188 Death Star, there's a good chance you're mistaking black from dark grey in the instructions. This set is notorious for it, I had a couple these moments where I thought I was missing something when I built mine.

@Short-Round That's a good point. Might go through it again and see if I went wrong somewhere. Am loving the build on the Death Star.
