I stopped after Halo 2 and lasted until Mass Effect 3 when I got the N7 edition but I sold it straight after completion, it was rubbish anyway and the game was disappointing.

I buy very few games, but those franchises I get religiously - Halo, Fable, and Mass Effect - all get the spesh dish treatment. FWIW the Halo series has been the best; the figurines aren't that special, really, but the little diary you get with Halo: Reach is beautiful, like a prop replica.

I seriously don't think I'll be getting the Day One edition, though. Part of me wants to, but unless they announce a 50+ price reduction at Gamescon, I can't really justify it.

Edited to add: I know for a fact what would sell like hot cakes, in case any developers are listening: if all the LEGO games came with an exclusive minifig. Seriously, LEGO collectors will pay insane amounts for rare minifigs.

I was all in for the original Fable II LE, because it was supposed to come with a hobbe figurine. At the last minute they decided not to include it, which years later I'm still very bitter about.

I used to when they a) came with good shit and b) were half the price. Halo 3 for 69.99 with a giant head and extra discs of stuff was nice, and GTA IV for 59.99 with a bag, safe box and other random bits was good enough value, but after that it just got stupid. Everything suddenly went to >100 and the stuff was less good. After getting stung with GoW3 that was 110 for the game with a really cheap and tacky plastic box and a shit soundtrack in a cardboard sleeve I gave up with them.

I was too, and was similarly gutted. I did own the Halo 3 "cat helmet" at launch too, and sold it when finances became rough.

Still tempted to get this. Mainly, TBH, for that headset.

    @Zomoniac

Agreed. Most LEs nowadays are a fancy box and some codes for downloadable nonsense. I'm sorry, but eff you and your downloads - I want stuff I can sit on the floor and play with!

And figurines are rubbish too. Even the good ones. I've got a one-year-old, that stuff'll be going straight in the loft.

Coincidentally though, Fable II LE is the only one I've ever bought *because* of downloadable nonsense. That Spartan armour and energy sword were just too awesome :)

Bah - I never used that spartan stuff. It was weak!

I was even stupid enough to buy Fable III's LE, which I almost immediately regretted. I thought the coin would be a lot cooler!

Where's lionbum? I need someone official to complain to.

Speaking of disappointing LEs, the BioShock Infinite one wasn't great - they weren't kidding when they described the Handyman collectible as 'miniature'.

The art book was nice though.

I can't think of much I'd want to do less than ever play a Blizzard game, but my flatmate buys the LEs of all their stuff and I have to admit to always being very impressed at the quality of the contents. They seem to put a lot of care into the presentation and materials, very slick. Would be nice to see that kind of standard on games I actually want to play.

The one with the giant Songbird statue, though...

The Handyman miniature is, I believe, exactly the same as the one in the BS:I board game.

@sanctusmortis Oh yeah, that Songbird looked amazing. It was a bit out of my price range though!

Ah, that makes sense then, it is indeed one of those pieces. Still, it was a little disappointing when I got it out of the box. Also, what's this obsession with downloadable soundtracks these days - BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider and TLoU have all done that now.

True enough, but you'd think a cd and card slipcase wouldn't be out of the question, considering the premium you pay for a collectors edition.

Downloadable OST's seems to be a western thing now days. Lots of Japanese games still have discs.

Yeah, that's a fair point. In fact I think every Japanese game I have a limited ed for has a physical disc. The Last Story even had one in a proper cd case ;)

Just those brushed up photo, replay modes you get in PGR, GT and Forza which look no worse than that.

Lol, looks like a shiney car with nothing in the background but blurly.

I'd put money on it being photo mode, but it looks like a decent upgrade from 4.

Not sure why the background wouldn't be blurry when the car is speeding around a track?

I never know what to look for in a racing game. Every one since GT on the PSOne I've just thought 'yep, that looks like a car'.

Racing games don't particularly excite me either but it can't be denied that looks really amazing.

Ryse looks very impressive too although the gameplay didn't really look like much.
