Unfortunately the new build has slashed my framerate to barely 30fps so hopefully the new lighting model will be optimised over the next week or two. The FFB feels a lot better than the last version I tried, hopefully it can continue to improve alongside the overall handling. At least I'm not weaving down the straights anymore.
I ran a practice race at Watkins in the Leonus 86 today with a 20 strong field of random cars... Running over a Kart and sending them flying off into the distance is one of the funnisest things I've seen in a game for years!

Yeah that is my biggest gripe at the moment - that it still has the wibble from shift2...
... the touring cars suffer least from it and are really stiff and responsive but the leonus can be really hard to place on a straight because of the wallowing.

Is there a performance improvement in today's build? Someone on the iRacing forums said they had a 50% boost in fps but I'm sceptical since there's been nothing mentioned about optimisations in the last week's build notes.
Initial reports suggest performance returning to pre new lighting levels.
@estoo If you check the dev threads a lot of track optimisation seems to have gone on
Rouen, damn what an awesome track.
Not usually a fan of French tracks but that place is superb.

Just had a quick blast around some of the new tracks and played with the time/lighting additions. They really are making big strides with this now aren't they?
With Le Mans, proper Hockenheim and Rouen I'm holding out for a Group C car. I'd never have to install Prototype C ever again then.

Finally got round to investing in this today. Went for the 25 euro option. It's a bit good isn't it?
I really need a wheel though, I think. Don't think my 360 pad is doing it much justice...
The track selection is spot on so far.
Yeah it's another world with a wheel, the pad is a bit twitchy.
Spent an hour or two last night racing the touring cars around Donnington, memories of TOCA .
The 'feel' is really starting to come through properly now with the marbles offline, the wheel slackening slightly under grip loss, the conveyance of traction and hte edge of grip. reallly enjoying it.
just wish they'd get the AI a bit more together so that it doesn't take itself out at the start but given how early i ndev we are still it's so promising.
does the grip feel like it's in the right place? (i.e. at the wheels and not somewhere around the middle)
FFB still has room for improvement but recent builds are finally starting to feel like the car is controlling the FFB, rather than the FFB controlling the car.
Yeah, still a bit of work to make it feel truly like wheels on the road but the conveyance of that is coming on quite a bit in just the last couple of builds even.
Yet more tracks added. Mugello (Florence), Oschersleben (Anhalt), Catalunya (Besos) are already in for Friday's build.
It looks like Monza (Milan) & awesome old banked Monza might make it this week too.
Historic Monza makes me a little moist at the prospect
I'm so glad they listened to the community for track selection!
Suzuka a near certainty as well. If they add Zandvoort, Laguna Seca and (getting a bit greedy) Portimao, it would be an almost perfect track selection.
