Maybe. Fox seems ready to drop them unless the voice actors take a massive pay cut.

Another article. Suggests Fox execs have already turned down the voice artist's offer of a 33% cut in pay instead.

About time, although it will be sad if it ends as a result of a financial squabble and not because Fox realises it's time to let the Simpsons rest.

I think a cut to 30% + a % of merchandise income was refused by Fox.
Apparently they've gone from 21 million viewers in 1991 to 7 million now.
I haven't seen it in years but I'll take the EG massive's word for it when they say it's become crap.

And Family Guy, American Dad and ESPECIALLY South Park. Wipe the slate clean and try something original.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Why would they do that when there's plenty of money still to be made? Money > integrity.

    This.

They stopped making it when Futurama first aired, didn't they? Should have laid it to rest, any recent episode I've watched has been turned off after 5 mins. Absolute guff.

I can watch the older episodes all day long.

To be fair to Fox they have got two new animated shows starting this year and Bob's Burgers which started last year is meant to be quite good, so they are hardly just living of the success of Family Guy and The Simpsons.

Is there to be any more BB? S1 had its moments, but the kids stealing the show I felt was a problem.

It's been total shite for years. Channel 4 shows new episodes in the week and old good eps on a Sunday and the contrast is staggering. The first 8 or 10 seasons produce regular belly laughs, can't remember the last time any of the newer seasons even raised a smile.

You know it's time to give it a rest when Family Guy and American Dad - juvenile as they are - are consistently funnier. And stuff like Archer and Venture Bros, even newer less-good Futurama, are vastly superior.

$400k per episode for the main voice actors is obscene. Cutting their pay to a tenth of that would leave them with pay that I'd still consider obscene.

Yeah it's hard to feel sympathy when they're getting $8 mil for 22 weeks work. If that's cut by 45% they'll be on the poverty line.

    American Dad is excellent.
    Family Guy has gone downhill.
I'll reserve judgement on South Park until season 15 has ended; but the first half was poor.

Simpsons got AIDs a LONG time ago.

    You dare to strike Scurrcules!?

When you also consider how many years they've been doing the job, the amount of money they've all socked is crazy.

The Friends stars used to get $1m per episode.

And Seinfeld was offered $5m per episode to bring back his show, but said no!

It's crazy money, but if someone's willing to pay them that much... then I guess that's what they're "worth".

It is a crazy amount of money. What the hell do you spend all that on? If someone dropped 8 mil on me I'd never have to work again if I didn't want to!

Yeah, I don't get why these people still work. They're just ill basically - workaholics.

Richard Branson still works a 90 hour week apparently. Why??

@kalel - to be fair, I would still work, just not doing what I'm doing now. I'd write, because I have to write and the joy would be in it not mattering if I got paid for it or not and not having to do other stuff to cover the rent. It would be AWESOME =D
