So, Xbox Infinite could be the official name for the new Xbox then.
    Pretty decent name.
I'm quite attached to calling it the 720 now. It is like a tipping of the hat to the days of Skate or Die, 720 and Paperboy.

The problem I have with anything using the name Infinity, is that I can't help but remember the first time I heard the story of the Emperor's new clothes. Infinity has no tangible representation and therefore I associate its use with things that are equally everything and nothing. Ie it sounds like some unsophisticated marketing scam imo.

My emails to Microsoft to call it the Xbox Twinky have probably been ignored then.

What do you call the next Xbox if this is the Infinity? Xbox Infinity +1? Xbox Infinityier?

I quite like infinite as a name. Although it does lead the question what will there next one be called?!

    Infinity cubed?!

    Edit: Beaten to it!

Wasn't 'infinite' one of the rumoured names for the PS2?

Anyway, I see 'Xbox Fusion' is gaining popularity again too.

Microsoft does at least own the domain.

I reckon that if they do call it the Xbox Infinity, then we'll find that the next version is just the same, compatible hardware with an updated spec.

They possibly have long term plans to stick with ATi/x86-64 compatible kit for the foreseeable future.

This would be great in a few years, if a revised box meant that frame rates suddenly smoothed out, and 4K / 8K support arrived for our favourite games over the next 5-15 years.

Potentially there could be an annual revision, but I'm not sure that this would benefit MS if they're selling them with a subsidy or at a loss.

Hmm.. What's Disney's game/toy mashup called? Infinity or Infinite? Might be a push to have a console running that multi platform software and launching in a close-ish time frame.

Apple call the latest iPad just that, with 'Retina display'. Could MS just go with Xbox?

Fusion would make sense since they are cramming every facet of the media and gaming into a single box.

Or Fusion could be the thing that allows the Xbox to play 360 games.

Too american.  Like its a Gillette thing where they stick on random words to try and make it sound cool.

    What next, Xbox Turbo?

    Wank!

They won't call it anything more than a few characters long, unless its a calculated reaction against the march of reducing product names to 1-3 letters.
