Just finished this with the bad, well mediocre ending same as Mowgli.

Just redoing the last bit with a guide to get the good ending. Can I just say THANK YOU to the designers, probably the first sensible JRPG I have ever seen.

"Warning, what you do now will change everything, do you want to save first?" Yes I do, thank you for thinking of us people who don't want to have to replay ages from an unknown arbitrary point. Good work boys.

Persona 4 Golden on the Vita

58 hours without a single moment of boredom, frustration or annoyance. Gameplay is perfectly balanced for someone like me (easy, but feels hard...) there was always something to do and I never once felt the need to grind.

Most importantly though it has the most soul of any game I can remember (bar Planescape) with characters I genuinely cared about and it is the first game I can ever remember that I genuinely laughed out loud on a regular basis. especially the end where they are discussing the best way to throw up their hands, and the bit where they were in the river with the teacher being sick upstream

My only criticism is that I missed some stuff and never figured out how to do them. I never managed to find a fishing rod or a bug net despite looking everywhere.

Fantastic game though, and my best JRPG to date. It may not be epic, but the small focus just makes it brilliant.

    10/10

60 hours through and haven't been bored once! In fact I can't wait to finish so I can do it all again! I've used the guide once to get the true ending and that's it, so happy I listened to people on here telling me to get it. My first JRPG and if they were all like this I'd definitely play more of them! 10/10

So guys, if I already played the original, how much new content is in this? Enough to warrant buying a Vita?

If you're considering buying a Vita just for P4G go for it as there are plenty of other great games to keep you going. There's some new scenes and characters and dungeon over the original so i hear. I didn't play the original.

@SuperBas New scenes, an extra month or so in game, more systems added (the skill cards I think?) and new social links.

If you liked the original and wanted to play it again, I'd wholeheatedly recommend P4G.

Yep, the skill cards were a new (and handy!) feature, and the new dungeon has a good social link story. There's also the possibility of getting a new ending in the game as well.

@Zackv4861 Er, shouldn't it just appear when you've defeated the final boss? It did for me. Did I somehow did something extra?

It came for me in my first playthrough, I think it helps if you have the lovers arcana built up and do a lot of the quests.

I never got it on my first playthrough. My friend got it halfway through their second playthrough. It's irritating as i don't know my progress with it. Still persevere!!

I'd be up for that. :D Possibly for PS3 and Vita going by the titles?

It's funny how often CVs and recruitment ads spoil announcements.

Looks like it! Cross buy hopefully? Even though as long as there are no technical issues I'll be playing on vita :-D

This excitement will slot nicely into the hole left by pokemon's release.

P4G is now 13.99 for PS+ subscribers and 14.99 for others. Part of the 12 Deals of Christmas promo. Just bagged a copy, because I've always wanted to go on japanese teenager adventures. Murdering fellow students on tropical islands and whatnot.

Really enjoying this despite a hiccup on the 3rd (ish) boss. It's one of those games though where I'm never sure if I'm doing the right thing. If I should be studying, other worlding, jobbing, or the right person to hang out with.

Chie seems to be collaring me often, I have a feeling a 'special' bond might be on it's way at this rate.

There's no right answer really, although I'd advise you prioritise social links with characters in your party. Just enjoy doing whatever you feel is best :)

The main thing I think I'm worried about is do I need to grind in the other world in between events? Should I be levelling up even though there's no one to save right now?

Yousake and Chie both keep asking me out :) Decisions, decisions.

If you can beat a boss, you've grinded enough until the next saving trip really. If you want to make the game easier, train on rainy days. Otherwise do whatever you want :-)

If someone specifically asks you out, I think that means your relationship will definitely advance.

I wouldn't bother personally. What I did was each time I went to save someone, I'd do the previous dungeon through and take out the secret boss. This is all the grinding you'll need for the next area complete with a new powerful weapon or item. Then off to the next dungeon!

I did the game on normal and I honestly never needed to do any grinding. If anything the game gets easier as the shine fox becomes cheaper the more requests you do for him. Then even if you get a bit battered you can just go back to the exit to heal then back to the floor you were just on :)

    For the emperor!

Ah good point democratically elected leader of boobs, wait for rainy days to do the dungeon, preferably days where you can't advance any social links you care about ;)

I concur with the resenter of individual-console obsessive troglodites, only do social links you like, you'll never do them all without a guide.

Ack! I better do the extra boss then. He battered me last time but I didn't wait for Kimiko to be back to school probably hammer the boss now. I think it's about to rain though :(

I can't kill the boss in the first replay-it dungeon, he utterly destroys my party.

He's rather tough that one, it took me a while before I could beat him. I don't think he has any weaknesses so you just have to hammer away with physical attacks in the hope of getting a critical.

I'd leave it a while though, there's no hurry with those ones.

    Portable view - Never forget.
