    @dsmx

Agreed. The bloke comes across as pretty self-important imo.

The whole thing smells of "Americans siding with big popular American corporation just because they're big, popular and American" to me.

The damages alone are fucking ridiculous.

I much prefer the Korean verdict, where the judge was so pissed off at both of their antics she punished both sides to teach them a lesson.

Meet the Goophone i5. It's a phone knocked up by a Chinese company based on the leaked Apple iPhone 5 pictures. They've actually patented it and threaten to sue apple if they release a similar device! :D The balls on these guys!
  • Deleted user 7 September 2012 15:47:51
That will be pretty fucking funny if that ends up in court.

:D That's fake mate, I think someone calculated they would need 4000 lorries if they ever did that, and even then there aren't that many 5 cent coins in the USA. Also, Samsung plan to appeal the decision.

Not sure how "Legal Tender" works in the US, but in the UK (from what I can understand based on the legal advice of Wikipedia QC) they could claim that Samsung hadn't paid at all as there's only so many 5p pieces that you can use to pay off an obligation before it ceases to be "legal tender".

Does the US have a similar thingy?

A billion 5c would be worth more than a billion in scrap metal, or something stupid like that.
  • Deleted user 7 September 2012 17:00:19
It costs 11c to make a 5c coin according to the gods of Wikipedia.

I agree, 110%. It just shows how desperate they are to cockblock their rivals when they start getting so pedantic that they squabble over things like rounded corners, icons on a screen and the fucking bounce back "feature".

I thought the exact makeup of coinage was a state secret?

I think it's the manufacturing process that's the secret part. They are 75% copper.

Speaking of evil Apple, I can't believe their customer service has actually gotten better. You don't even phone them anymore, just put your number in and they phone you straight away, no annoying automated messages. They also just replaced my 5 year old charger for free with next day delivery. :)

They might be evil but fuck me they do good customer service. EVIL

So the best they could come up with was another row for app icons, a slightly bigger screen that is still smaller than its rivals, 4G which most people won't have for several years, and another proprietary connector.

    Wow.
